Exactly what kind of player will Zion be in the NBA? Interesting body type.

his perimeter game is going to need to improve significantly. He can get away with just his athleticism in HS/college. not so much the nba. That's also a ton of weight for someone only 6'7

comparable to Julius Randle perhaps. slightly shorter and just a thicker version lol

This comment might be bumped cause it may look stupid in 10 years but he's the next holder of the torch.

Better Larry Johnson, similar body type and game.

May or may not be another super solider experiment like shaq was according to RocketsTruth (Rip in peace).
Only guy who weighed that much that could jump like him was Shaq, how long he lasts in the NBA depends entirely on his biomechanics.

Tractor Traylor II? Just wait until Mr. Zion signs his rookie deal and the old metabolism slows down a bit.

He’ll easily shed 20-30 lbs before next years draft. Duke got other flabby guys like Parker and Okafor into good shape in their lone seasons. The fact that he can jump out the gym at his current weight is crazy.

Grandmama is a good comp ...
Too bad that back didn't hold up
    Loved those Hornets teams
LJ Zo Mugsy KGill Hersey DellC
Thought they would dethrone MJ one day

Does Zion remind anyone of young Round Mound of RB coming out of AUB?
Not saying he has HoF career ahead of him, but young Chuck had same open court handles & sudden explosion at 6'6" 250+
Zion is nowhere near the lowpost beast, but pretty sure Barkley never had 40" Vert either

Even if jumper never develops, could be matchup nightmare off bench as small ball 4/5 so long as handle + fitness allow him to consistently attack slow Bigs off the dribble

Def 1 of the most unique athletes to enter the league in the Age of Length

If he develops a solid jumper, improves his handle, and sheds some weight then a better version of Julius Randle comes to mind. But if he works on his play making along with the stuff already mentioned (and this comparison is wishful thinking) then I'd like to compare him to Lamar Odom in his prime (with better athleticism).

Can someone following this guy tell me if there's something else he can do besides dunking the ball? Defense? Three-point range? Playmaking?

He's a downhill player at his best attacking the rim hard to finish

Right now mostly as a monster in transition who only occasionally flashes the ability to penetrate & explode off the dribble in halfcourt

Handles need a lot of improvement for that skill to become NBA level consistent

Like most HS kids that big w 40" vert, he hasn't developed his jumper, but no major flaws like MKG in his form where he can't improve

IMO his worst flaw now is on the boards
He should be Chuckwagon 2.0 down low
Numbers don't really show it, but he seems to dislike banging inside unless he has the ball whenever I see him

    Defense?!? From an AAU phenom?!?
Coach K has his work cut out for him there

I read a quote from Charles Barkley where he said he had gotten to around 283 before the draft, but purposefully put on weight just prior to the draft to top 300 in an effort to avoid the 76ers who wanted him below 285 - Charles heard the sixers weren't going to pay him a lot. I've separately read Barkley had a 37 inch vertical at one point.

So to me, Barkley is the perhaps obvious upside comp.

The problem being this isn't 1990. Zion will have to develop a 3 point shot. He also will need to get better across the board skill wise to match CHarles, obviously.
