So many great euphemisms in this thread. Here's another one: "it's a marathon, not a sprint", or how about this: "the game is won or lost in the 4th quarter, and we're still in the pre-game warm-ups"

As much as I want to have faith in Morey, the options out there is just limited. The Rockets have limited assets to make any significant moves that would improve this team from last year's squad. Morey deserves the benefit of the doubt but its very likely that he's unable to build upon last year's success. The Rockets does not have any young prospects that could take the next step & make a big impact but rather fill roster space.

Morey will definitely make some moves that will bring the Rockets close to what they were but definitely not over. Houston will most definitely take a small step backwards from last year because of how high they set the bar last year. As great as the Rockets were last year, their margin of error was still incredibly slim. But rather than building to widening that slim margin, Daryl Morey is trying to build back to that slim margin again.

I know that fans should be patient with Morey but I definitely understand the frustrations of fans. Seeing how the Warriors continues to build upon their incredibly deep and talented team while the Rockets continues to take 3 steps back for every 2 steps forward. As much as I like to believe in Daryl Morey, there's always some type of regression every time a new bar is set. Whether it's his fault or not, it seems like he's unable to build upon the success of his team & fall short of expectations. There is a slim chance that the Rockets could exceed their expectations again this season but given Morey's track record, the Rockets are more likely to fall short of expectations & set a lower bar than last season.

Why does the media hate us? Even when we lose they try to say we may have actually won.

"Outplaying the contract" is the new slogan/memeuphemism for 2018-19 . It's the new "flexibility"

What whiny fans need to understand is that Morey knows what he is doing and is smarter than all of you by an incalculable amount. Short of Tillman handcuffing him, he can and will turn things around.

I can't believe the word "fungible" appears twice in this article. Then here comes "buttress" bringing up the rear.

If you are strictly grading free agency, the Rockets are losers. It doesn't mean they can't eventually do something to improve the team, but they are worse coming out of free agency than they were going in. That's losing.

Just something to keep in mind when judging this offseason in early July.

    Paul/Gordon/MCW
    Harden/Nick Young or Melton
    Ennis/GG
    Tucker/Melo
    Capela/Nene/Anderson
Best 6 summer leaguers for RGV and injury relief.

Seems solid to me, If I'm guessing right at what Morey is doing. Paul running that bench unit with all that shooting could absolutely overwhelm teams and get alot of easy 2nd quarter wins and a top seed.

I thought Gordon was our best closing 3 last year anyway so I kinda like the idea of more guard depth and less importance and money spent on starting 3 freeing Gordon up for this role. Tons of interesting lineups and potential for a deeper regular season rotation. Starters + Gordon gives us a solid 6 playable against Golden State with Melo and Gerald Green having potential to get up there.

Could be in great position come buyout season, as Anderson's deal becomes more tradable as days go by, and perhaps Melton plays great and gets into the rotation or the quick flip main piece in an Anderson trade to get us up to 8 or 9 that you feel comfortable with going into the playoffs with no bad contracts.

Zach Lowe, as usual, provides the rational take.

It's just way too early to panic about losing role players, especially considering Luc of course wasn't even available in the Warriors series and also as Zach mentioned, the Rockets could be concerned about that shoulder injury being recurring.

Warriors just added yet another all-star. The only way to counter that is adding one ourselves. You're ******* right we are exploring all the ways we can acquire someone like Jimmy Butler.

Them playing Ariza so many minutes was why he ended up going 0-12 in that last game.

    34 mpg?? That's why he was 0-12??

In either case, even if that is the case, it just speaks more to the need to replace them with multiple bodies that are actually playable.

A case could be made that a younger Ennis would be eclipsing an aging and declining Ariza in performance within the next 2 seasons.

Our wing defense looked fine against Golden State. Luc did nothing against Golden State. It’s fair to make the argument for Ariza but way more fair to criticize people acting like we lost a top performer in Luc.

Ennis is a no doubt upgrade of Luc.

Added quality depth to the PG spot (Melton and MCW) that was not there last season behind CP3

Hartenstein is emerging as a deserving rotational big man.

CP3’s max deal and CC’s new contract will be the highlights of the offseason but adding Melo and maybe dealing for Bazemore would be putting CFans into ecstasy on a typical offseason

Through May 9th: Rockets were 50-5 w/ Harden, CP, Capela.

This team got more athletic, younger even if they added Melo. Melton looks like he can provide quality minutes right now.

Just need to get Melo for MLE and re-up Capela for 4-5 years. Excited TBH.
