Adrian Wojnarowski, the best sports reporter on the planet, said the Rockets were drafting Tyus Jones and not Sam Dekker. Brian Windhorst said Chris Bosh was signing with the Rockets if LeBron went to Cleveland. Is their credibility gone? Mistakes happen, even for the best. Those are two big ones, nationally, involving the Rockets in recent years... and there have been far more mistakes than just those.

Now, is there a point at which you can have too many? Of course. But this is an industry where facts can change on a dime, some stakeholders are trying everything they can to keep things beneath the radar, and other stakeholders are using media members as pawns in their game of leverage. It is really freaking hard, and no one comes close to batting 1.000. You seem to have this black-or-white view that either someone can be trusted, or they can't. Either they have credibility, or they don't. In this business, if that's your standard, you're going to miss out on a lot of valuable intel. Because most reporters hit on some things, and miss on others... and personally, I'd rather be open-minded to sifting through the evidence than just give broad, sweeping assessments of "credible" or "not credible."

(By the way, the Shams "incorrect" report was rather odd... Iko reported what Ariza was allegedly desiring — not what he'd get, but what he was hoping for — and it was 10+ days before Shams chimed in. It's entirely possible that Iko's report was incorrect at the time Shams tweeted that, because Ariza's reps realized it was no longer realistic, but accurate at the time Iko tweeted it. The bigger picture of Kelly's report on Ariza was that Trevor was looking for a payday, rather than opportunity to contend... and he was the only guy I spoke to on the Rockets' beat in June who didn't think Ariza would be back. Ultimately, Kelly was right on the main point with Ariza, IMO.)

Well just have to disagree on this one. Are you really comparing Iko to Wojnarowski and Windhorst? Two reporters who built up their credibility after many years of accurate reporting.

Do journalists get misinformed from time to time? Sure, but those guys have the credibility. IKO is new to me, so getting a couple of things wrong right off the bat is a bad sign.

Also you hardly ever see one reporter calling the other reporter wrong. Those were strong words from Sham and Clutch. You see something like," There are conflicting reports, but my sources say..." To me thats a bigger indictment than listening to the wrong sources.

Wasn’t comparing them at all, just using as an example of how hard the business can be. Agree Kelly has a ways to go, and I think he’d be the first to admit that — I was just upset by some of the vitriol ITT for someone who I know works his butt off and certainly doesn’t make things up. That’s all I meant.

Not trying to stick my neck out for Iko or anything, but Chris Haynes was on a podcast awhile back and said a lot of time agents will use new reporters to leak misinformation for leverage purposes because they know they are hungry for a scoop. Said it happened to him a few times.

This could be what is possibly happening with Iko?

All of his reports that @heypartner has taken issue with have been negotiation related with reports coming from the “player getting low balled” angle.

That above tweet was flat out wrong. Lulz at the idea he scooped ESPN and Feigen's confimred numbers.

Iko doesn't have sources...he makes guesses and/or recycles previous news...like recycling Capela's sad face as "I'm told he felt undervalued." lulz

Now he's naming an agent by name that you can look up, just to sound more convincing on a guess that no one cares about wrt Nunnally, and on the deadline day that Feigen reported for Ennis.

Why would an agent allow a newbie to use his name? And why use it, instead of just saying "League Sources." It's all just a very good guess, based upon Feigen's deadline. Iko knows how to play Twitter.

Tweet 1: Nunnally's agent personally told Iko the Rockets have moved on from his client. The agent apparently mentioned Ennis by name.

But then that would mean Nunnally is still a possibility, a contradiction of tweets.

Very clever to use two tweets to ride Feigen's deadline day, but one contradicts the other....lulz. I'm sure he got a lot more followers by riding Feigen's deadline day story with the equivalent of Melo "2 yrd line" and "imminent" piggyback tweets from last year.

If Ennis doesn't sign, my bet is we'll get a tweet that Nunnally's signing is now "imminent", but also has a "hold up" like Ennis, because he's asking more than minimum, too...yet Iko didn't get that info from the agent today when he presumably had him on the phone.

You are a whole character. Read the report. The headline and the tagline under it are not written by me dude, those are what we call editors. So the "Rockets are balking", I never wrote that. I just wrote the report. Stop trying to put stuff together that isn't true and make it seem like I made some stuff up. Cause I didn't. Literally as soon as I got the information today I wrote it up. Not that hard.
