Hinch is the most players manager in baseball. He’s basically best friends with his guys. Giles will never last in the MLB with that attitude. Other managers would of dropped him months ago.
I think Giles has some trade value just because he was perfect this year in closing situations and it's coming of a world series. Still throws hard but a new start might be needed for him.
Nope. He's got to do some serious soul searching. Some guys figure it out - Schilling & Nevin, Carl Everett - some guys don't - Jeff Juden, Shea Hillenbrand.... No, but he's got talent.
Yes. Is it a good time to post on here that I felt like his set up prior to his delivery was extremely feminine to me....? I felt like he was on a cruise ship doing his best "how low can you go, can you take it to the flo" move every time. Maybe it's just me.
Perfect response, and I hope he's right about Giles getting right. Even if it's total BS, it's still a perfect response.
For anyone paying attention, Ken Giles was a mental midget from the day he got here. The club tried to prop him up and make lemonade. Giles sucks too hard, though. Surely we have to deal for a closer now.
I made a comment in another thread about how I didn't like his posturing when he pitches and was told basically it is his way of settling into his pitches. But yes, I agree with you that his mechanics just make me roll my eyes. I just feel it is a showy move but then I also think Craig Kimbrels arm hanging is stupid or the parrot on the arm trot Encarnacion does is showing off. My motto is act like you been there before.
Agree, perfect response. And I believe him. If Giles says and does the right things down there, he will very likely get another shot in Houston’s bullpen. I think his days as the closer are forever gone, but he can still be a great setup man if he learns to control his emotions.
If he does it on every pitch, isn't he acting like he's been there before? That saying has nothing to do with a pitcher's windup/setup, there's a myriad of examples of pitchers being "non-traditional". It's not for show, just like batters have little routines in the box to set their timing, so do pitchers.
I support Ken Giles because of being Astros, but what he said is unforgivable and he should never wear the Astros uniform again. I don't care if he becomes the best save leader ever in MLB, no regret getting this bonehead out of wearing the rainbow. I hope he doesn't report to CC Hooks, so the Astros can get him off the book without penalty.
