Draft analyst Jonathan Givony was on the Adrian Wojnarowski podcast today.

    http://art19.com/shows/thewojpod/episodes/883aac23-8d69-4283-b5b5-005dca53b078

Starts at the 29:20 mark where he talks about how well the Rockets did to get Melton. At the 30:15 mark he says:

"I know they were really targeting Jarred Vanderbilt in this draft, another guy who showed up really, really high on the draft models."

Vanderbilt is from Houston, just 19 years old. Terrific rebounder and frame... almost a Dennis Rodman like player. He ended up going 41 overall, five picks before the Rockets.

where? Mine player says it's only 38:17 long.

[edit] found it. 29:20, not 39

Would’ve been a great get, but if Morey coveted that badly I think he would’ve leap frogged those 5 picks and taken him.

I think he was very happy with Melton being on the board when we picked.

I think we are forgetting just how poor Tilman is. Eat at Landry's.

To be fair he is paying Ryan Anderson 100mil, Capela 150mil, cp3 200mil, the entire team like 5bil, anyone would be poor.

Mine too. Maybe can still work something out with Nuggets, would love too see Vanderbuilt back up Clint.

Melton and Vanderbuilt would put the lock down D in our 2nd unit. Crazy energy players. Both very good passers and ball handlers too.

    Impossible.

Melton & Edwards were #1 and #2 on Houston's board.

Im glad we did not get him. He is selfish and I also watched him miss lay up after lay up. He is a great rebounder and a good passer as a 4 but its hard to do that sitting on the bench with injuries like he has 3 years in a row including high school. He was medically cleared almost 2 months at Kentucky before he decided to play. He can take that noise on to the Spurs or wherever Leonard is going.

The kid was hurt the whole time. He rushed back trying to play his last year of high school ball, AAU, and he REALLY wanted to help UK get another title. So much so, he played center when he is not a center in no way, shape or form. The kid is a ball handler who played a different role on a foot that never healed because he wanted to win that bad. Selfish is the last thing Id call him, foolish is more like it. He probably should've never played at all last year.

Can't play an injured guy. It was a risky and foolish thing to go after him on DM's part, if that was really the case. He is a non shooting forward.

Not a fan of this news because I'm sure the Rox were "targeting" every single good player who would have been available but weren't. As if they wouldn't "target" MPJ while he was falling. Simply put, every damn good player is a target.

I admit I liked Justin Jackson. His shoulder injury was a big risk, otherwise he may have made it to the lower part of the first round.

Oh well. I mean, Melton and Edwards look promising so I am fine with that. Edwards provides better shooting than Vanderbilt.

Vanderbilt the closest thing to Draymond defensively in this draft in my opinion. Best rebounder I've seen in a long time.

He's Lamar Odom. He never got his timing because the injury. He's a better perimeter player than he's given credit for. Defensively he can literally guard anyone. He rushed back when he should have sat and got healthy. If the Nuggets take their time with him and get him healthy , they may have gotten the steal of the draft.
