Ok, hope all you fathers have a magical day. I thought it would be fun to post our favorite Rocket memories we shared with our kids. Here's mine...

It was 1995 and I was stationed in San Antonio, my only son (at the time) was 8-years old and a Rockets fan like his daddy. I was a poor Captain so I couldn't afford anything but nosebleed tickets for the game in San Antonio. It didn't matter we were so excited to be going.

It was the year they announced the League MVP was David Robinson and it was clear Dream (previous MVP) wanted to prove they made a mistake. It was kind of a weird series, HOU beat SA at home twice and then the Spurs did the same thing to us. Game 5 was back in San Antonio and it was surely a night my son and I will never forget. We were two dots of red in a sea of silver/black, but we had a fantastic time.

    Here's a taste of that memory... https://ruvid.net/video/olajuwon-dominates-robinson-hW4uXlRGAF0.html

Happy Father's Day my Clutch Fan Brothers,

I don't have any kids but my cat, Lars, and I watched the Rockets get to the WCF this year. And that was cool.

I may have mentioned it before, but my son was born during the Rockets' 1994 finals series with the Knicks (June 4th). What a year that was! Birth of your child and the Rockets' first championship.

During this years WC finals, my daughter who is 14 was watching the game with me as she has gotten into the Rockets this year. As I was walking by, during a Curry 3 in game 7 I heard her say “f*ck Curry, f*ck Draymond and f*ck these stupid warriors”...I shed a tear...true story..

I don’t mean this to be a downer, just honest and thankful for the memories. My favorite rockets memory with my kids was 2 years ago. My son was only a few months old and with 2 girls already I just relished the thought of watching sports with my boy. I had a rockets jumper for him that I took him out in to buy our first Christmas tree with him.

He passed in December of 2016 at 4 months old. The pain is obviously still there but I do find myself cherishing memories like these of the days I had with him. I wish I could have seen him grow up to enjoy some of the things a father wishes he could share with a son. But I’m thankful for what memories I have.

When my ex-wife was pregnant with my first born son...Moochie Norris hit a game winner and I screamed so loud he jumped around in her belly. This was during the 01-02 season.

I was watching a regular season game one evening. Rockets were playing okc. I had been telling my 2 year old daughter that my favorite team was the red team. She came and sat next to me. In her little voice, said “my favorite team is the blue team”.

Then you say, "Yes, baby girl, we call them the Texans, and your granddad called them the Oilers."

at the last 3 minutes of game 7, my 4 years son woke up and with his eyes half open he asked : is your team loosing again! yup., then he told me : when you will grow up ,you can be a basketball player, but now you will have boo-boo if you play with them....I felt like CP3..

I'm 22 without kids, but I have a ton of sports memories with my dad.

Every time the Rockets (and formerly the Magic, yes I was a TMOF when I was in elementary school) played in MSG or NJ my dad would get tickets so we could watch them play.

We had tickets to my first ever Rockets game against the Knicks back in 2004 or early 2005. I was waiting for him to get off work so we could go. Shortly before we left, he suffered a bad concussion and was bleeding pretty profusely. He opted not to go to the hospital, took me to the game, and we witnessed the great Scott Padgett hit a buzzer beater to win the game for the Rockets!

My dad isn't in the greatest of health nowadays, but I will forever cherish that night as my favorite memory in my Rockets fandom -- moreso than any single game or playoff run.

    R>M,
I'm very sorry to hear of your loss, but thanks for sharing that memory. Sports can be such a great bridge across generations, races, and genders. My youngest son could care less about sports, but I've been fortunate that my youngest daughter is a big Rox fan and has been watching games with me for about 7-years. Maybe one of your girls will come around like mine did.

    Jacoby,
You're dad sounds pretty tough, not many men would carry on through a concussion. My dad could've cared less about sports, but he took me to 1981 Celtics vs Rockets Championship game. It was Game 4 and we won, but damn the Celtics were a machine. I always appreciated him doing that.

So my boys are now 8 and 5. I constantly talk about the current team, but also teach them all about Rocket’s history. They. Love. Rockets. Basketball.

So the boys are well aware of the kiss of death and love the story along with watching the highlight. So, I took them to the Mario Elie bobblehead night where they got to meet the man himself. That was a very cool moment.

Little side note: When all three of us are playing ball together, my youngest ( 5 year old )runs around calling himself Mad Max. I kid you not, he’s all in your face and loves playing D already. His personality on the court is very much Max like. He played his first season of organized ball and he gave kids fits. It was a thing of beauty.

I’m sure the best is yet to come. So cool getting to share something I’m so passionate about and see them live and die Rockets ball as I do.

I was at the Rockets game with my wife and daughter when Harden got the 60 point triple double. That was pretty special and won’t ever forget that day! Happy Father’s Day CF!

    Mikol,
You make me proud as a Rockets' fan by how you've taught your sons about our history. Some of my best moments in life we're either coaching or watch my kids play ball. Enjoy it while you can, they grow up fast.
Quick story, I believe it was in 1996 when Mad Max was with the Spurs, I saw him and his son at a flag football game opposite field that my son and I were on. It was cool, but he was with the enemy then, but at least my son got to see him in person. Thanks for sharing.

My son is 4 and loves basketball but can’t seem to get through a game. I’m already planting the seeds of Rockets love and irrational sports hate.

I hope I don’t screw him up too badly...
