Speak your Giles Thoughts now..... I think he'll lock it down easily. Damn, that ERA though. Easy Save will still happen
No Giles comment ? You had plenty prior AFTER things got a tad shaky. He pitched well and and easily got the save.
Giles is in a groove. That slider is working. Honestly think he will bounce back, I also think Dallas will figure it out too.
His ERA is inflated for the 7 runs in 1/3 of an inning against the Yankees and Indians. In save situations, his ERA is 0.00
There is a reason Hinch has been giving save opportunities to other players. There's a reason he was nailed to the bench in games 5, 6 and 7 in the World Series. Giles is great against the A's in June. We've seen him collapse *this season* against the best teams. For Christ's sake, Giles, presumably an adult, punched himself in the face. So, we can interpret his stats and marvel at his stuff, but the team doesn't trust him and neither should we.
Giles blowups have nothing to do with the team he's facing. Of his 10 saves, 6 are against BOS/NYY/LAA/CLE. He's had bad outings against good and bad teams as well.
Yep, Giles seems to be a head case. Yep, Giles could convert every single save opportunity for the rest of the season and not allow a base runner in any of them, and most every one on this board would not trust him until he also does it in the playoffs. Fair enough. That being said, since the start of the 2017 season, there has not been anybody better in save percentage in the American League in the regular season. Yep, we’d all like to see Craig Kimbrel walk out to the mound, but that’s not happening.
Including playoffs, this is not the case. Granted, his slider has looked a lot better recently so he might be back to pitching well.
