Not sure how I feel if true. Couldn’t hurt if he came cheap. How bad do you want it DJ?

The more options for Morey, the better.

So how creative can we get dumping Ryno, letting Ariza, and Capela walk assuming DJ will sign at a discount?

You could really improve that roster in this scenario.

If nothing else, this is great leverage for when Clint's agent starts throwing around huge numbers. It'll also help prevent another team (Mavs and Cuban) from signing Clint to a max offer sheet just to drive his price up when we match.

If he plays here for a discount? Perfect. If Clint should be elsewhere.

If we unfortunately lose Clint, DJ is best case scenario to replace him

He may accept a buyout and new contract with the Rockets that would cost him around $5 million. He could justify that in taxes and cost of living.

But he's not a trade target. Wrong place. Wrong time.

Remember.....clips or another team could offer him a major extension. If he were offered 3/$60+ million, can't see him turning that down to come home for pennies. On the other hand of i were any other team I wouldn't offer him anything. Too risky.

I suspect he gets bought out early next year and is free to join a contender on a small deal.

This is what i hope, no need to trade for him, let him get most of his money by opting in, and let him work on a buyout (whenever it'll be possible) so he can sign here for cheap, we are not desperate for a center for the regular season anyway.

Even though I said it as a joke, If Clint could learn to hit the midrange jumper consistently I actually wouldn’t mind this now that I think about it. He can defend wings better than most wing players.
