LMAO, this thread isn’t serious, it can’t be. KD will cook an inexperienced rookie like Qi. Zhou has played a grand total of 6 minutes in these playoffs, and only in blowout situations. He barely played in the regular season as well, but u want to throw him out there in the WCF to guard KD? Lol, please stop... He will do nothing offensively or on the boards, and he will get worked by KD so easily.
The Rockets are already hated in the media, so why not use the end of the bench for some hard fouls? Zhou Qi can go in there and just chop at their arms when they go up for shots. Bruise up their upper bodies, nothing career, season, or even game-threatening. Just rough them up responsibly.
Kinda late for that now, just wish we developed him more in the season. We could use him like an Asik back in the day. Asik was trash on offense. But just his defensive presents sitting in the lane was enough to keep players out at times. But it's too late to turn to try to use him.
Sorry, nope. @Clutch can verify. Capela lovers/Qi haters are blind. We're probably going to have to try Qi at some point if Ariza doesn't slow Durant down.
If we're down 0-3 I can see Dantoni use Zhou on Durant because of his memories of Linsanity and we come back to be the first team to win a series while down 0-3 xD
You have a very narrow view of what is required on the defensive end against a team like the Warriors.
Are you extrapolating based on something you saw from him in a Chinese league? What fiestiness and bball iq has he demonstrated in NBA competition?
Maybe he can do the Dhalsim extendo-arm thing and get up in KD's grill haha... Hey I'm just saying, I can go give you 5-10 minutes too.
While this idea seems silly to some, and I doubt it happens, no one else on the team has the length to put up any resistance against Durant. Trucker is just way too short and Nene doesn’t have the lateral quickness to guard on the perimeter. Personally I’d put Capela on him the whole game and sub ZQ to try and frustrate him. People can laugh all they want at ZQ but he’s actually a good shot blocker.
First of all, in a match up with Golden State, Zhou couldn't be worse than Nene, Ryan, or Luc with his bad shoulder. But the problem is that MDA has made zero effort to develop him this year. I feel like Pop and Kerr give much more run to their young players to get them ready to step up, mainly because they treat the regular season like just a playoff preseason because that's basically what it is. So at this point it would probably be just a lateral move. That being said, if we go down 0-2 and Zhou gets no time in Oakland while Luc is playing out there with one arm and Nene is chasing Durant around screens, then that is an indictment against coach. Zhou should be the backup 5 against the death lineup.
