You go from having a reasonable rational discussion to saying something absolutely stupid like this.

Why would you think North Korea could beat South Korea? I think they could inflict heavy damage on Seoul, but doubt they could win a war of aggression.

The North Koreans have roughly twice as many active duty soldiers and roughly twice the number of tanks as the South. That said, the South is much better funded so I think if it came to all out war between the 2 with no interference from China or America you'd have one hell of a bloodbath.

South Korea has a much higher total population than North Korea so if it really came down to it, they could put together a MUCH larger force that is equipped better. In short, the initial attack by North Korea would be devastating, but it would be similar to the battle of the bulge in that despite heavy South Korean casualties the offensive would be ultimately a failure and the counter attack by South Korea would be checkmate for the North.

Without interference from the US or China, the north and south would have unified a long time ago. North and South Vietnam did it basically on their own, as did East and West Germany. I don't know if it's a good thing we did not end up with a divided Iraq?

I think the fear is South Korea might capitulate pretty quickly if there was no promise of us support.

Regardless of whether there is a war or not, if the us is pulling out it’s influence then China will take over as the sole influence on the peninsula.

It’s been clear for awhile that trump doesn’t believe in the long standing influence regime the us and other western powers have used to keep much of the world at peace.

If everything goes well and the South starts opening factories in the North with all that cheap labor can you imagine the economic powerhouse Korea will become?

In the sense that without Chinese interference North Korea would have collapsed long ago, I agree. These divided countries almost always happen when part of the country picks communist dictatorship over capitalism, fortunately communist dictatorship wasn't what they wanted in any part of Iraq.

The good thing is that communist dictatorships almost always collapse relatively quickly because that is a moronic form of government, the bad thing is that they usually rack up quite a body count before they go down.

Pretty much. Even Trump is smart enough to see through this, right?

Was shocked for a second... They didn't cancel, just threaten to cancel. That isn't good news, but NK always complain about these things and make empty threats...

Kim Jong Un's got Trump by the balls. Trump was basking in the glory of being the first to bring peace with N. Korea. Now they have leverage... question is will trump be a fool and give more concessions to Kim in order to make sure peace happens (if it even happens)?

Its the same tired story over and over again with N Korea

It’s amusing(more amazing than amusing) to watch the usual suspects look for anything to b**** about knowing full well that achieving peace in Korea without a hitch is just not going to happen. Of course Little Rocketman is going to buck while heading into negotiations and to think he will just lay down and play nice without some major concessions is just wishful thinking. It’s highly likely that Trump walks away from the table and once again he will be barraged by the idiots who want him to fail regardless of the significance.

Honestly? Don't want him to fail at all. Peace on the peninsula would be extraordinary.

Just hoping Mr microscopic attention span can avoid a swaggy P before anything actually gets done.

Kim has cold feet. Leaving NK would be suicide for him.
