Every time this thread comes up people point out how Durant rode the Warriors bandwagon to a championship.

    Again this narrative is false.

He drove the wagon himself as Finals MVP and gave one of the best individual Finals performance in all NBA history. When Cavaliers were about to make it a series in Game 3, he slam the door shut to give them an insurmountable 3-0 lead.

So therefore he earned that championship in every way possible by being the thoroughbred that drove the wagon pure and simple.

It must be so hard carrying that terrible GSW team to the finals. Those losers lost like 9 games out of 82 the season before. Pathetic.

    Give me a break.

No one's arguing that he didn't play hard or do his share. It's the fking fact that he did it for an already stacked team!

Every ring that KD wins with the Warriors MUST be followed with an asterick *****

Please. That Cavs team was not going to win the title. All Durant did was ensure it ended in 5 instead of going 6. Yes, he was terrific in the Finals. But that's the entire point we're making. He joined an already historically great team which made it easy for him to deliver those kinds of performances. Who the hell is gonna double-team Durant and leave Curry and Thompson wide open? For chrissakes, the Warriors lost one game in the playoffs last year(granted, partly due to Zaza's dirty play on Kawhi). They manhandled a Cleveland team that went 12-1 en route to the Finals. There is no competitive balance in the league anymore because of what Durant did.

That's all hypothetical, you have no idea how people would react, especially these fans. People here hate on Harden for a living.

I don't see it as weird at all, his situation is clearly unique. I've not yet seen anyone bring up something similar.

I guess if you count players past their primes forming super teams that would count. Moses Malone was a RFA and Wilt was playing in a 12 team league and besides went across conference to go up against the team that beat his team in the playoffs. Not like he went and joined the Celtics.

I agree also. It is also the prime reason that Lebron will highly consider coming to Houston. If he thinks that is what it will take to beat them. If he thinks his legacy would be raised by beating the Warriors. Then a potentially stacked Celtics team with 2 added max players and their younger players one year better with experience. It would be one hell of a season.

A better chance than the Cavs, yes. Also, they are far from having dleague talent. I really don't get why people continue to sleep on Tatum and Brown as if they were not top 5 draft picks with elite potential.

I said that during the Philly series, people keep sleeping on those two when Tatum and Brown both went 3rd in the draft

Where is the logic in this thinking? Again, KD joined an already historic team that gave him all the help in the world to perform the way that he did. When your surrounding by 3 All-Stars your free to play a more relaxed game. If KD was still on the Thunder, do you think he would have performed like that against Lebron and the Cavs?

Katy once bragged how he missed the days when he and Michael Beasley would dominate AAU pickup games for the lulz. This is just an extension and he deserves all the fan hate get can get for loving being a ten year old who just found a cheat code.

It's not a complete letter without "Respectfully yours" or "Best regards"

Exactly. Because NBA basketball is all about doing whatever helps and makes it easiest for Kevin Durant.o_O

Or maybe its about what's best for all fans of the game.

Meanwhile, maybe KD could have won less titles but in the end garnered even more respect and self pride by winning fewer but more meaningful titles without joining a superteam.

He/we will never know will we.

    ITA...

Interesting thing to note, when Lebron Wade and Bosh teamed up in Miami, the vitriol, hate and damnation was easily 10x worst than the reaction KD got for joining the Warriors. Posters here and elsewheres, along with many national columnists/pundits were declaring that Lebron had utterly damaged his legacy and would never be in the conversation for being one of the best players ever.

Flash forward a handful of years later and the debate is if Lebron is in the conversation for GOAT, with the Heat years helping his legacy rather than hurting it.

Lmao...... you do know why people are upset that KD went to GS right? If your answer is yes and your response is still the same then you’re a legit clown. I’m gonna assume you don’t know why so im going to break it down real quick.

In 2016 the Warriors won 72 games........ you know what... nah, not gonna waste my time...you’re a clown.

Honestly, yes. Pissed might be a strong word. Definitely embarrassed. I certainly could not bring myself to trash talk or argue with fans of other teams who correctly call it cheap bullshit that ruins the league and should be prevented.

As far as the free agent decision a player should make for himself....exactly.

Yep. Disallowing that trade was a gross overstepping of their boundaries, and showed CLEAR bias. There was no basis for doing so.
