http://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/...nwell-imagines-first-round-deals-all-32-teams I wouldn't do it.
Agreed. I’d rather be great in one thing that average across the board. Might not be the exact situation but close. Merci, Watt, and Clowney is a luxury I love having in the pass rush. Merci feels especially important with Watt seemingly well on the decline. In fact, of the three, I’m making Watt the only one available
The only way I'd do it is if their top OT prospect was still on the board....that said, i don't think there's a chance ANY team gives the Texans a first round pick for Mercilus.
I think the interior OL is going to be much improved imo and less of a worry than it was prior to the offseason. If they can prevent constant interior push it will allow Watson to shine more and even with pressure from the outside at times. Martin, Fulton, amd Kelemente are all better pass blockers than they are in the running game. Thus that leaves both Tackle spots and TE as the main weaknesses on O. Hopefully the draft can address these for depth and longterm potential and in the interim someone has to step up like Newton did before his terrible injury. We just need servicable. I hope Davenport can take a big step forward in his 2nd year.
Whitney is the one being talked about in trade talks because he has the most favorable contract relative to his production on the field. None of the others on the front seven can match that once you figure Clowney's coming extension. That said, no way I'm trading away my most favorable asset on defense AND a first round pick. With what Rick Smith got back for Duane Brown and what Belichek got for Cooks., I might have a discussion if it starts at Mercilus + a 3rd.
I would be a bit shocked if anyone trades a first for Gronk right now given his injury history and him constantly talking about retirement. I would think they could get at least a second though.
They'd ask for a 1st; Can probably get a 2nd? For reasons BTG mentioned (injuries, retirement, maybe wants a new contract), I'd give up a 3rd.
If we could get away with giving them one of our 3rds this year and Seattle's 2nd next year that would be pretty sweet. I don't think they'll deal him here though.
Seantrel played a total of 54 snaps last year, 28 in the last game where he started. He played 1 game the year before. I don't see how BOB feels good about this guy
