It's really a grind for the team right now. In the long run, it's great that we are able to still win these games with our stars all in pretty bad slumps.

Gerrit Cole looks amazing. Shame he got bit in that last inning.

I do not believe that Giles is Hinch’s closer any longer and I’m ok with that.

Biggest development of this early season IMO. Giles is done.

I think the hanging slider the other night that made Hinch **** his drawers moved Giles further into the doghouse.

    Agreed, and I like it.

Hoooowevah....the rest of the Stros relievers haven't exactly jumped on the chance to take that job. At this point, I guess we're all DEVO now?

    Meh for now.

If Giles starts doing well I could see him closing games again.

I don’t know that Hinch wants to entirely lean on one closer and, to be frank, Giles doesn’t deserve to close right now.

He sure has options. I just don't think that Giles is option 1A anymore, like he had been.

If they would, at some point this season, trade for or find a DH/LF bat and a closer there's no team that could theoretically touch them.

Devenski will get at least 1-2 blown saves worth of chances to nail this down.

He needs confidence and a touch more fastball control. The changeup plays up in the 9th.

Exactly. That’s all I’m saying. When you think of what a closer is it’s pretty clear he’s not that for the Houston Astros at this point.

Then you make him the ****ing closer and don't jack around with him in the 7th inning or whatever.

See how that treats him for a month.

It's funny that the same holes they had at the end of last season are the same holes they have right now (back of the pen, DH, LF).

But the rotation is a metric sh!tton better.

We are on the same page for the most part. However the bat I would like added is Beltre. I think he would be a perfect fit at the deadline.

He is... but if the games on the line at that time, he’s more valuable then.

The concept of saving somebody to be a 9th inning only closer needs flexibility.

THESE PRETZELS ARE MAKING BUCK THIRSTY

(we don't****ing care, he's in the kitchen)

ETA: Dammit, I'm back. you have to have a 9th inning guy, I don't care who that guy is, but it has to be A guy. None of this committee bullsh!t. You can committee the other innings all you want, so say the actual pitchers.

If he's cool with DHing for 2 months, hell yeah. Hadn't thought about him yet.

Glad we can pull out these games with little offense. Hopefully we can start mashing teams when the bats come alive.

Dang... Angels were down and came back and won again. They have a tougher schedule coming up though with their next several series against Boston, Giants, Astros, and Yankees
