Starting to see Yankees hate in the Rangers thread. Perhaps we can hate the Yankees here?

Agreed. Dont think the OP was really claiming such. But Boston and the Blue Jays certainly look better than the Yankees out of the gate. It could be a very contested division. Even if the Yankees end up splitting with those two teams, that is 19 losses right there.

I still have major questions on their pitching. Luis Severino is their ace... he is a dynamic young pitcher, but to presume he's going to be as consistently good as other team's #1 pitchers (all of whom have multiple years of excellence under their belts) is a pretty big assumption.

Betances was once looked at as a generational bullpen type pitcher. Now? He's still very good, but nobody is making Rivera comparisons any longer.

Tanaka and Sabathia could fall off a cliff, and nobody would be surprised.

Sonny Gray is ok... certainly still could get better... but there's a point to be made that his pedigree was somewhat inflated with Oakland as simply being the best pitcher on a mediocre team.

They have plenty of talent and way more funds than any other team. They'll be in the mix but may not run away with it like ESPN wanted them too. BOO HOO. Astros will outlast them all.

Agree with most here except Severino. Pitchers fall apart so often that Severino's age/health make up for his limited experience, IMO. Yankees should be much better in 2019 than they are in 2018.

Sure, he may likely eventually get there. My point is that people presume he’s there now simply because he’s their “ace”.

This thread does not sit well with me. Hubris is a disease......unless it's regarding the Rangers. **** those guys.
