I think the West is about to get a shakeup, with San Antonio not even making the playoffs this year.
Sure, ESPN and others have their own formulas for strength of schedule, but here is the list of what the average wins of each team left to play is for the West, from easiest to hardest.

Minnesota 40/29 (12 games left) Ave. opponent has 30 wins
Golden State 52/16 (14 games left) Ave. opponent has 31 wins
Houston 54/14 (14 games left) Ave opponent has 33 wins
Utah 39/30 (13 games left) Ave opponent has 35 wins
Portland 42/26 (14 games left) Ave opponent has 35 wins
LAC 37/30 (14 games left) Ave opponent has 35 wins
Denver 38/31 (13 Games left) Ave opponent has 37 wins
New Orleans 39/29 (14 games left) Ave opponent has 38 wins
San Antonio 39/30 (13 games left) Ave opponent has 39 wins
Oklahoma City 41/29 (12 games left) Ave opponent has 40 wins

I think Minnesota will move up to the 3rd seed followed by Portland and Utah. ESPN predicts Denver and the Clippers to end up below the cut, but I actually think the Clippers could move into the 6th seed, with OKC in 7th, and San Antonio and Denver end up below the cut.

Better yet would be if New Orleans and Denver end up ahead of OKC, even though it is highly unlikely. Wouldn't it be sweet, to see San Antonio and OKC not make the cut?

I could see New Orleans dropping to the 8th seed...we about to beat them twice.

In various threads, people have made cases for LAC, SAS, OKC falling out of the playoffs...

This stuff is going to come down to the last day.

In my opinion the only high-probability things are that Portland makes and Denver misses. I would sure like one of the other bubble teams to be UTA or OKC, but we don't get what we want.

Could be, but we are going to beat them twice, and Boston might beat them too. That's why I think Minn could move to 3rd.

    this is crazy.

i wish someone tracked the standings daily and graphed it.
it would be cool to see teams moving around for the last half of the season.

Yeah, that would be cool. It is going to be a fight to the finish for a few of our teams.

Yeah, the teams will be moving up and down a lot between now and the end of the season. It will probably change daily...LOL.

Yeah, me too, but 4 of our next 5 games are going to be tough. Minnesota and Portland are good, New Orleans has to fight to stay on top of the cut, and certainly can't afford to lose to us twice in a week.

Portland at 3rd and OKC at 7th would be perfect.

So the Warriors will (presumably) face OKC -> POR?

Yeah. Warriors would roll OKC but Westbrook has always been a bad match up for Curry. He's very physical and it would make Curry have to work on defense. Although they would probably just hide him on Huestis..Warriors do switch a lot so I would expect Thunder try to take advantage of that. Portland has always played Warriors well and Lillard has the potential to match Curry on any given night. It would be hard to hide Curry when both Lillard and McCollum are on the floor. Curry won't have a free pass facing back up point guards all playoff long like he did on their first championship run.

I agree completely. And then maybe the media will even be forced to back off this crazy idea that Klay freakin' Thompson is the best defensive 2-guard in the league. That started as a myth and has just gone wild.

Give it a week, and watch the shuffle begin. Portland, OKC, New Orleans, and San Antonio could easily lose a couple more games, while Utah, Denver and those hated Warriors start winning some easier matchups. We need to play great our next 3 games, against some decent teams to keep our edge on GSW.

Agree! This is the best case for us. Both those teams give Warriors trouble and will definitely fight with them. We need the warriors to be worn out.
