He is ranked 11th in cumulative +/- in the NBA despite playing only 19.5 minutes per game, this is before he put up a +31 tonight against Brooklyn.

He outplayed CP3 last Friday and led the Raptors to a win.

This dude went undrafted in the 2016 draft.

He should get serious consideration for 6th man of the year.

I feel like we're in some alternate reality. The only reality, out of infinite ones, where he isn't on the Spurs where he clearly belongs.

Kid is a restricted free agent this summer. So I expect him to get paid like a starter.

I really like what vanvleet brings to the court. But as a starter I think he could hurt you unless he’s next to a ball dominate guy and serve the pat bev role.

Great bench guy tho and I agree he should get recognition as a 6th man candidate although I wouldn’t put him in the top 3

He's one of those undersized hustle guys who will get massively overpaid and make a team regret it after other teams start game planning against him.

I'm thinking a Patty Mills type mistake but Patty Mills is probably better.

Or Matthew Dellavedova -- had one great playoff run and then cashed out all his chips in free agency, never to be heard from again.

He actually was offered a 2nd round pick, but turned it down.

Van Vleet said Thursday [June, 2016] that he turned down two chances to be drafted midway through the second round because those teams wanted him to spend two years in the NBA Development League at an annual salary of $20,000. He said he had far more lucrative offers as an undrafted free agent, and quickly backed that up by signing with Toronto.

So, these guys were being offered $20k salaries to be stashed. wow. Another example of the attempts to use mid-late, 2nd-Round picks on players who agree to be stashed, and negotiating contracts ahead of the draft to cover the bases of those who go undrafted. Wonder how much the 2-ways are affecting that trend.

at-ing @BimaThug @Clutch because I know you both are interested in these Drafting trends.

By comparison: Here's the PGs taken in the Mid-Late Second Round of VanFleet's draft 2016 --
    • Demetrius Jackson #45 -- sign a four-year, $5.5 million contract with Celtics, but then they waived him ... thus burning a chance to stash a player
    • Kay Felder #54 -- three-year, $2.4 million contract with Cavs. Traded within a year, and cut by receiving team ... burning a chance to stash a player
    • Tyrone Wallace #60 -- signed a G-League contract first, vs NBA contract. successfully stashed

I was gonna start a new thread titled "Are we just gonna ignore Terry Rozier?"

But I figure I'd just glom onto this thread. Both VanVleet and Rozier are looking great, right now.
