A one-off comment about being impressed by marginal prospects who should have struggled mightily against major league pitchers.

I know being a dick is your schtick, but it’s tiresome, dude.

Sorry you feel that way, not intended at all. Sometimes I just say things and rub people the wrong way, some random **** talking, I wouldn't take anything personally. I still love you. And your thoughts on the Astros.

Didn't know I had a shchtick though...I'll add that to my curriculum vitae.

Honestly, I kind of want to see Kemmer get a shot somewhere

I've been talking about Kemmer for 4 years now. I don't think it's gonna happen for him until he gets traded.

His story of how he got drafted is great. I root for those guys, always have.

Astros with the SWEET 4-man outfield look against Jay Bruce.

JD Davis, Reddick, Springer, Marisnick from left to right (Davis 3B in the box).

Wonder if this is just experimental or something we might see come the regular season?

    Bruce struckout btw

They used to do a 4 man outfield for Mark McGwire

They did that last year against Pujols as Correa can still throw out Pujols from LF.

With McGwire, all 4 outfielders were essentially parked on the warning track.

I still liked that at least for one game, an umpire forced the 3rd base coach to be in the coaches box for McGwire's plate appearances after attempting to be about 15-20 feet further down the line than normal.

3B coach was sitting with the ballboy, ballboy was in the first row, both had helmets on. Everyone had gloves, nobody was talking on their phones.

We put up a target (walmart sheet and spraypaint) in the upper deck for his first game in the Dome, BP. We were in LF, he was hitting moonshots to the left of us. We did go get one ball though.

In useless spring training stat news....

Marwin Gonzalez is elevating the ball more than ever. It is generally easier to elevate the ball in spring. Batters that hit more flies than grounders are almost always good hitters (~90 %) If the ball remains juiced and Marwin continues elevating the ball, Gurriel may have to play DH.

    Spring R.S.
    2018 0.71
    2017 0.94 1.21
    2016 1.22 1.48

PS. Marwin grounded out a lot in 2015 and even more so in the spring.

Astros lead all teams in errors this spring.

Of the regs, Correa and Bregman have 5ish between them, nobody else who matters has more than 1 (and everybody deserves at least 1 in ST).

I wouldn't worry about it yet, but if there is the "1 thing" that the Stros aren't excellent at, it's defense.

While they may not be excellent at defense they were clutch when it mattered most. Seemed like the bigger the moment, the more spectacular the play especially Bregman. I figured we would have several typical postseason jitters/errors but I didn't see many. One of the reasons we were able to take care of business. The focus of the young guys is pretty impressive.

AJ Reed was sent down, so either White or Davis will make the opening day roster.

Id say Davis based on ST stats.
