Credit to Love for being courageous enough to share about something so personal and recent. He talked about how his illness was part of the reason for the locker room meeting when the team questioned the legitimacy of his condition.

Depression and anxiety are the most common mental health issues Americans face today and its something completely treatable. People simply need to understand mental health issues are normal and preventable. Like going to see a doctor or dentist regularly before issues occur.

Brewer get paid millions by channeling his former goat, how can he be sad.
Still getting paid by connection to his old college coach.

Good stuff from Kevin Love. Like we said at the time, it's a little stupid that his team had a "fiery team meeting" regarding the validity of his health problems. Based on Lebron's tweet, seems like they're eating their crow now.

Panic attack out of no where? Interesting. It's probably not out of no where... but.. that's why it's mental.

Mental can be worse than physical and hiding it doesn't help. Having NBA stars talking honestly about it helps remove the stigma around it. Kudos.

Has anyone had a panic attack before?

I feel like I have but it was injury related. I could barely sleep at night because I was in pain, and I feel like I had some symptoms to what Love had. Had a lot of stress during the time too. Shortness of breath and some stomach pain. Was pretty awful but was a 1 night thing thankfully

These guys aren't robots. Kudos to them for speaking out on it.

American men have been in need of a revolution, much like women and black Americans have experienced in the last century. A gigantic bullet point under that is how we acknowledge emotion. Specifically depression, as if it weren't commonplace. People would stake your manhood on admitting to it though, and why? To me, you are an absolute sociopath if you don't acknowledge emotion or call someone else weak for doing so. Probably a hypocritical sociopath.

I could go on a pages long rant about this but yeah, kudos to Love and DeRozan for not being afraid of people's archaic thought processes regarding men in America.

I'm happy guys like Love and Derozen are feeling strong strong enough to talk about their struggles. With more and more people coming out and expressing that they have suffered with these afflictions the more that the stigma of mental health can be broken and more people will feel that its okay to seek help and get yourself right. Its sad how Royce White was laughed out of the league for being honest but now maybe if people see that successful athletes struggle too they will understand that no matter how much money you make or status you achieve, your mental health is paramount

Completely treatable? Not even the best psychiatrist can say that depression is completely treatable.

Yes I had one time. The most horrible experience in my life.
But it had completely different symptoms than Love's. Hyperventilation, vertigo , cyclical thoughts and well..panic.

I think a lot of people may have had but they don't know what it is. I also didn't know I just thought I was going crazy.
Thank god I haven't had one ever since. I wouldn't wish that to my worse enemy.

Which makes me think..if the other players like Dwade who critisized Love and thought he was making it up, were actually present when he went through the symptoms of the panic attack in the lockeroom then it doesn't have to do any more with just ignorance but maliciousness.

I’ve been doing the work for twelve years and I haven’t seen a case yet that isn’t treatable as long as the treatment plan is followed and the work required is at least being genuinely attempted. Some combination of therapy and medical intervention is usually required and coordination between mentally health professionals, but yes depression is totally treatable. Doesn’t mean all symptoms are always gone, but the condition should be significantly improved.

I've use to have anxiety and panic attacks throughout my middle school - college years. I took medicine and did a whole lot of therapy and I've been able to manage since my senior year in college.

I remember I went to emergency rooms a few times and going to cardiologists and neurologists trying to find answers. It sucked not really knowing that my issue was all mental. Worst time of my life and it really made me antisocial since I was afraid of people finding out about my issues.

Definitely very cool of Kevin of coming forward about this and talking about it.

I remember when people at church would tell me I just needed to seek god more and how it was the devil attacking me. What a load of horseshit that was.
