Now that is important if true. Could easily have seen him making an impact in the pen at a minimum, depending on how the season progressed and how needs became apparent. At least we know this now and won't be considering him as an option at any point, especially at the trade deadline.

Has to be a PED, stimulant on MLB list. Considering drug has not been listed for Whitley, I suspect it is something not tested by MLB and would not be a post-season ban.
Yes you are right, gee golly he's only 20, therefore there was nothing stupid about what he did. Because if this realization,I think they should go ahead and waive his punishment. Boys will be boys after all.
I don't know the story and hopefully it was simply a stupid lapse in judgement, but if we expect a 20-21 year old to be mature enough to pitch in a critical playoff game we ought to be able to expect him to be mature enough in day to day living.

Seems a drug prescribed for ADD would be a "downer", since the mind is already racing. If no downer, it's performance enhancing.
