This has come up a thousand times in this thread.

Nobody has, or will ever, go to see the ruins of the Astrodome.

I would go if there was astrodome tour. Have you ever been the Colosseum its really not in good shape. The astrodome is a symbol for houston for a city with no real historic landmarks. However I am not a fan of making it a parking lot.

Seems like the consensus is that this is a terrible idea.

corporate interests over public interest like clockwork. i wonder how many retention ponds and flood canals could be constructed with that 100 million in county funds?

I’m glad to see this. I just ordered a keytar online this morning and it feels good to see that I’m not the only one who wastes they’re money on frivolous ish.

Really looking forward to getting my new toy Friday though.

This is more about Ed Emmit attempting to leave 'a legacy' than helping the city. Up there with that retractable roof next door in terms of a waste of $.

That's only because its still too new. If it was over 1900 years old, people would probably check it out. :D:D

It's an engineering marvel ... not a sports stadium.

It is an engineering marvel. It will probably last 1900 years. That is why they don't try to blow it up. Blowing it up will cost 30-60 mil. Just leaving it alone is 170k a year. So putting that 30mil in a 1% is 300k which is greater than 170k.
