Yesterday I had a pretty cool experience regarding my writing. A fourth & fifth grade creative writing teacher contacted me a while ago about presenting to her class. I went ahead and agreed for the kids. Who in their right mind doesn't want to help kids out, right? Anyway, I did it yesterday and they asked me all kinds of questions via FaceTime. Those kids were great, but they were a tough audience in certain ways. They paid attention to everything I was saying or at least their eyes seemed to say so. I spoke for 30 minutes with them and it was really rewarding for me. Afterwards the teacher was pretty nice and sent me a thank you. Said I did great, but man was it tough tempering all my answers for smart 4th and 5th grade kids who don't have a ton of life experience to relate to yet. I might have another one on the horizon now. Pretty exciting for me personally. Did I mention they were in Dallas? Right after we beat them down? I'm really glad they didn't ask me if I was a Mavs fan.
Envious of you. You are like the author that gets to do the Merry Go Around now. Like the director and producer that are travellin the festival circus.
Not only did they, but some of them will remember your book and presentation throughout their lives whenever they come across a movie, a story or a real life experience involving whales or ocean animals, and reflect upon what you said yesterday. Spoiler
