Morey sent Ariza and Green to their locker room to let them know this. CP3 and Harden were there to console Jordan. Tarik heard crying so he knocked to check.

    Total misunderstanding by the league.

I don't buy that the Rockets think Capela>Jordan in a vaccum.

When you weight the mountain of other things it would entail in terms of personnel, finances, and age, this was all pretty obvious that Capela wasn't gonna be moved for Jordan.

I'm assuming a lot of things are true in the media, but if there's "reports" that DJ would sign here for a decreased salary if Clint leaves, why would we trade for DJ now?

Capela right now is better than DeAndre, and he is younger

No way Rockets would trade him...now if Capela wants more money, then we have another story

Good. Capela is younger, cheaper(for now), and has more upside. I've never seen DeAndre do that Eurostep move that Clint has mastered.

I’m good with this. Does Jordan really move the needle all that much if any?

Capela has his issues getting pushed around at times, but I think he’s more versatile than Jordan and still getting better. Not to mention he's much cheaper.

I think the Rockets have a plan through next year and they are sticking to it unless something else big shakes loose.

I bet Morey tried to offer Ryan Anderson for DeAndre.

I'd do it if we could get 3 1sts too.

Harden, CP, Capela have only played 18 games together out of more than half the season of games.

Gotta figure out a way to get a decent backup C. Tarik + Nene is a serious liability, IMO.

Kudos for not selling ourselves out. But we still need a big man.

That's the right approach to take regardless of whether it's true or not.

Why read about that at RealGM when you could read about it in this magazine?

One other reason I forgot to mention why you don't do that trade.

I personally think Capela is more value able than DJ on skills alone. But I won't debate you there if you disagree and think DJ is better.

However, I firmly believe that it's a moot point because Capela is undoubtedly the better FIT in the Rockets offense. While DJ can catch a lob unlike any other, he doesn't have the same ability to catch on the move when rolling like Capela does. Capela this year has shown the ability to take a dribble on the roll and finish without relying purely on lobs.

3pt shooting, Harden, and Capela are the lynchpins of this offense. Without any one it's not nearly as lethal. A big reason Capela only averages 25 min per game as well is his acceptance of playing HARD on both sides of the floor every possession. Rim running - getting all the way down the floor from rim to rim on both defense and offense - is something coaches struggle to get bigs to do reliably, usually because doing it over 35 minutes is simply exhausting and unsustainable regardless of stamina.

Most centers opt for the increased minutes and stats over 100% effort on both ends every play (which is ok really, it's normal). So that is one attribute that sets Capela apart from league centers - he is willing to sacrifice minutes and numbers to be more effective and anchor both the offense and defense nearly every possession that he is out there for. It's a rare trait, and a big reason why he is top 10 in the MVP analytical evaluation despite limited minutes.

Because in the offseason, we simply don't have any cap room to sign DJ unless he is willing to take a mid-level salary, which is a decrease of more than 20M a year and there is no way DJ is willing to give up that much.
