Remember he is a two time divisional champion! 9-7 is the bar

Most coach extensions are pretty meaningless.... yes, they give them something less to worry about while they're here, but coaches get fired all the time post-extensions (and a lot of times, there's option clauses and performance clauses that the public isn't privy to... along with buyout stipulations in case he's to get fired).

Are they going to car pool together too?

Maybe share an apartment as roommates?

I love how OBrien is leaking to Pancakes that he only controls who plays on game days. Insulate yourself OBrien....

If Watson does well next year I am sure Pancakes will tell us he was OBrien’s pick from day 1. If Watson sucks OBrien can blame Smith and trade for some other talentless QB like Peterman in Buffalo or Bethard in SF.

If Watson does well next season... what else even matters? Who cares who takes the credit.

Its pretty clear that everybody's fate is tied to the franchise QB right now... as it should be with NFL franchises.

4-12, you all get extensions! Just more proof nothing good happens after 2:00am. ;)

It matters to the extent that it shows a lack of accountability and questionable talent evaluation.

We need to build the rest of the roster. We don't want him to have a Philip Rivers career- great stats, few postseason appearances.

The roster is in pretty bad shape overall. OB and Gaine got us here with Rick, let's see if Rick was really the cancer causing it

The fact that we constantly hear those anonymous sources means someone inside the org thinks they matter

The only reason I even give a damn about the Texans at this point is to see what Watson will do. If Watson wasn't on the team I would be totally totally done with them. It's unfair they are putting all this pressure on that kid because I don't trust this joke of a franchise to surround him with a good enough team.

If Watson does well, and the team does well, wouldn't you favor keeping that stability?

If Watson does bad, there will be a regime change.

Not sure why that's so difficult to understand.

For people who are really down on this franchise... you guys seem to spend even more effort/time/emotion criticizing the hell out of frivolous stuff like who leaks what, etc.

Sure... if they didn't have Watson's amazing debut to look at, do you think any of the coaches would still be here?
