Love the Utah trade. Not sure why they do that, though.

It’s no secret what we’re trying to do. Why should they help us without major incentive(s)?

This is actually makes quite a bit of sense for LAC to get Capela for a departing and older Jordan. Problem is all their money would be tied up in front court players Griffin, Capela, Anderson, and Gallinari which is antithetical to the modern NBA. The cap gymnastics would be fascinating to watch if Lebron wanted to come to Houston as well. Ariza and Paul are expiring, Jordan with an ETO, Lebron SNT or just sign? Morey could get it all done I’m sure considering all 4 guys wanted to come here or be resigned. Probably need to trade Tucker to make the dollars work better. Then add some vet ring chasers and keep Green and Luc on cheap deals.

    Paul/Gordon
    Harden/Green
    Ariza/MaM
    Lebron/Zhou
    Jordan/Nene

Would love to see this team face GS.

Derrick Williams could be a potential steal like Gerald green.

I could see him being a good fit on this team.

Love it. Seems ideal. There will be pay cuts coming from the top no doubt.

Would the Thunder trade PG for Anderson and 1st round pick? PG could bolt this summer. The Thunder have good rebounders that could make up for Anderson's rebounding woes. Anderson will be a streaky shooter still though.

The only likely taker for Anderson would be the Kings(his hometwon), but who would the Rockets have to take back to match or come close to the salary of Anderson?

    no, they wouldn’t

OKC will most likely ride it out with PG and hope for the best. It’s probably better to just have PG walk than anchor yourself to Ryno’s contract.

Not happy about giving up Ariza and there might be a better way to make this work; but I think our best bet is serving as a facilitator for a three team trade with the Kings involving George Hill (bad contract and wants out). Alternatively we could take Kanter and make this would but I doubt hes any better of a fit than Anderson (unless we have a separate deal with Capela going out for the right player).

We're going to either have to give up a key piece or take an equally bad contract back for Anderson to be traded basically.

For PG? No but for Melo they do it I think.

Depends on how the season is going. Thunder will be cap strapped and have to add talent beside Westbrook to compete. Ryan is the ideal player to play next to.

My understanding of the cap is shaky at best, but personally I feel the following has a strong possibility to occur.

LeBron, after having brought a championship to the land, has more pull with the Cavs organization than any of us could ever realize. This will lead to him leveraging a trade to the Rockets, as pairing with Harden and CP3 is probably his best chance to take down the Warriors again to improve his already great legacy. LeBron proceeds to opt-in to the final year of his contract, much like CP3 did, and is then traded to Houston. The understanding is that if LeBron wants to get to Houston, it will happen, this scenario just leaves both teams better off (again, much like the CP3 trade for us/LAC)

Cavs In: Anderson, Gordon, Onuaku, HOU 2020 1st, HOU 2022 1st

    Rockets In: LeBron

While having Anderson AND Love on the same team is rather redundant, if/when LeBron decides to leave the Cavs, it almost forces a rebuild. Love/Gordon + others could be flipped for picks/young talents, and they will have plenty of expiring deals in the 2019-2020 season that could be ideal trade targets as well.

One could make the argument that LeBron is worth MUCH, MUCH more than the Rockets trade package, but LeBron gets to choose where he goes by opting into the last year of his contract and becoming eligible to be traded. From the Cavs perspective, you either allow LeBron to walk again for nothing, on slightly bad terms especially if a trade to Houston was what he wanted, OR you can have your greatest player in franchise history leave happy, AND get picks/pieces that can be flipped to jump start the rebuilding process in the post-LeBron era.

Without being to sure of the cap gymnastics that would be in play, we all know Redick was close to signing here this past off-season, and after having received his payday in Philly, will probably be more than happy to sign to the MLE for the next 3-4 years to play next to the Beard, LeBron, and CP3.

So we resign everyone on our current roster who has expired (Paul, Capela, Ariza, Luc, Green, MAYBE Black) then we proceed to sign Redick to the MLE if available or one of the other potential exceptions. He isn't quite the ball handler Gordon can be, but is a slightly better sharpshooter (career .414 versus Gordon at .376), which is what we need more of in a lineup with Harden, LeBron, and CP3.

This leaves us with an incredibly strong lineup of:

    Paul / Redick
    Harden / Green
    Ariza / Luc / Williams
    LeBron / Tucker / Zhou
    Capela / Nene

Really the only weaknesses in that lineup that I can see are post defense (which has been a weakness since Dwight left, Clint just doesn't have the sand in his pants to defend against the larger centers of the league) and the lack of a true backup PG, but with Harden and LeBron to share ball-handling duties while CP3 isn't on the floor it shouldn't be an issue.

The cap issues here that I'm not sure about would be whether or not the MLE is available BEFORE resigning all of our guys using their bird rights, or if our players must be resigned FIRST, and afterwards that determines whether or not we get the MLE or the BAE. Either way, this team will cost a lot, and is contingent upon LeBron leveraging his way out of Cleveland if he so desires.

Thoughts? (Sorry for the huge wall of text, just trying to put my thoughts out there)
