Sometimes you do. The idea that something like a taco has to be restricted like that is dumb. Sometimes I like fixings. Sometimes I prefer it more classic. Both cases can be the best... depending on the day for me.
Laredo Taqueria is my favorite. However, it isn't always convenient to drive to and I am not a breakfast taco snob (though I freely admit some places are much better than others, especially traditional Mexican taquerias). El Rey's are okay (and i do love their green sauce) Some non-taqueria decent places include Liberty Taco, Rudy's, Torchy's (love the ranchhand), hell even Chacho's in a pinch (love their Chilaquiles taco but don't ever set foot inside that place as it is disgusting). La Estacion in Galveston is also kick ass if you happen to be on the island. Their barbacoa is unbelievably good
When I say 'Fixin's' I am more like the make up of the Taco Chorizo Sausage Egg Cheese bacon . . . BRISKET . . etc . . . . I have not tried Whataburger's Chorizo breakfast burito yet Rocket River
Yeah, the best ones around me are at an Exxon truck stop (they make great tacos & tortas too). Chorizo, potato & egg with some spicy green sauce is my go-to.
The doña sauce was a revelation first time I had it. Not as big a fan of their regular tacos, but their breakfast tacos are quite good. In ATX, El Primo is also fantastic.
