Excellent article on the Rockets much improved defense this year. Essentially, they say the Rockets only have 2 real weaknesses...transition defense and 1 on 1 defense when Harden or Anderson are involved.

A bit disappointing to not read anything about Jeff Bzdelik's imprint but otherwise a really good breakdown.

Is the narrative about Houston not taking defense seriously FINALLY about to change?

It's just because of our system.

    Lebron James is OBVIOUSLY mvp.

The article states that Harden and Anderson's 1-on-1 defense is a problem...but also state that Harden is allowing one of the lowest scoring rates (per guards) this season, and that it'll be interesting to see if it keeps up the whole season.

    Isn't that contradictory?

Why play defense when you can score 90 in a half?

ALL THE POINTS ARE BELONG TO US!!!

Seems odd to me, Harden and Anderson have both been so much better defensively this year.

    Key takeways:
-When Tucker and Mbah a Moute are on the floor together our defense is great
-We are still bad in transition defense
-We are better at rim protecting this year
-Harden and Anderson are playing much better defense.
-Anderson is being challenged 2.5 times a gain in ISO-worth watching how his numbers change
-Some luck may be involved; Houston is the fourth worst in the league in terms of QUALITY OF LOOKS FOR THE OPPONENT so there may be a correction
-We lead the league in defensive efficiency following a MADE BASKET, meaning if we get our offense better our defense gets better as well. ;)

Intentional or just assuming how the other posters really talk like in real life?

That may be coming from helping off bad shooters, giving them wide open looks. I'd like to see our rankings in expected EFG%, I know we rank #1 offensively (lots of 3s and layups) but I wonder if we are giving up the same efficient shots. Sample size seems a bit too large for this to be a total fluke tho, that kind of luck doesn't hold up for long if we are giving good shooters open looks.
