MVP criteria changes every year. Apparently this year it's about being the most entertaining. Sorry again, Jim.

It's gonna be the "well, LeBron lost a few MVP awards because of voter fatigue, let's reward him this year".

    Convenient.

    2015? Team success.
    2016? Triple doubles.
2017? Body of work over time if LeBron wins, team success again if Kyrie somehow unfairly wins.
2018? **** James Harden, just make some **** up to prevent him from winning.

Harden will never win the MVP. Only way he can shut the haters up is by winning a championship.

    A couple of notes here
1.Still making excuses for russ getting MVP saying he averaged a triple double and made a miracle by winning 47 games. Never mentioned harden averaged 30/8/11 and 55 wins while getting the 3rd best record in the nba with a team expected tp get 42 wins max.
2.Harden is always a side conversation never in the main title. He is LEADING the league in points and assists and no mention of that.
3.Haters gonna hate but damn man, No one is saying lebron isnt having an incredible season but to THIS point how can anyone say its not harden, Anyone with a basketball brain knows its not even close .

I dont know why i get worked up by this type of **** but iam tired of the bias, the disrespect.

wtf are you guys talking about? Harden is basically the main topic of this whole piece, certainly the 'elephant in the room' backdrop to the discussion about LeBron and Kyrie. it's like the whole piece was really about Harden

If harden is producing better stats tha lebron, is on a better team that is coming from a loaded western conference, than what argument is there?? You want to throw in better team mate aregument? Lebron has Love and will have IT later on in the year, 2 all star team mates to hardens 1, if cp3 makes an all star game this year considering he missed games and the amount of elite pgs there are. There is no argument to be made right now, you simply cant justify it.

You guys have to remember the MVP is a media award, not a coaches award, not a basketball expert award, not anything but a media award.

Harden will never be the media darling that Westbrook, Lebron, or Curry are.

LeBron vs Irving is an EASY #narrative to play for the MVP.

I guess Harden needs a "villain" to drum up a narrative.

Harden remains at #1 in NBA.com’s MVP Ladder

“No one hated flipping that calendar this morning more than Harden, whose epic November came up just shy of being historic. Harden averaged 34.9 points and 10.1 assists in 13 games, missing out on joining Oscar Robertson and Tiny Archibald as the only players to average 35 points and 10 games in a calendar month (minimum 10 games). Harden benefited from the healthy and effective return of Chris Paul, but was burning up the competition both before and after Paul made it back to the lineup. The best part, for Rockets fans and certainly coach Mike D’Antoni, is Harden being unimpressed with his work so far. He insists the Rockets have a ways to go before they really hit their mark; never mind that 17-4 record leads the Western Conference and their 9-1 mark in their last 10 games is best mark behind Cleveland’s 10-0 run.”

Bron, Kyrie, Curry, and Embiid round out the top 5...the media has discarded Giannis already

i thought D12 was gonna be that a-hole. apparently they were too nice to each other after their bitter breakup.

.. nah, they just hate the rockets and don't even wanna give us the narrative.

Sigh, it's gonna be LeBron. Not sure how I didn't see that but jeez... like someone posted in the Harden MVP watch thread, the MINUTE HARDEN BLINKS(has anything close to a run of bad games or even normal games) they'll give Bron the award. It's so obvious it's sickening. Not that Bron doesn't deserve it but nah, not this year, not this season. Gonna be a long four months.

Rachel Nichols is smart. She knows it’s all about narrative.

The hypothetical posed was Cavs win the East and Rockets win the West, and both players are playing at their current level. At that point, for most people it really just comes down to who's playing better basketball. You think its Harden, which is fine. Others may think its LeBron, which is fine too. They're both playing at a ridiculous level right now. "Anyone with a basketball brain knows its not even close" -- really? I think people in the league or who have been part of the league have better basketball brains than fans on a message board or people in the media. Do you think if they were polled they'd say it's not close?

As horrible as it seems, I honestly thought the narrative would be James Harden wins the MVP after Houston suffers from Harvey. I was expecting every national game to be like the NFL and mentioning Katrina every time a game was played in New Orleans for 10 years. It seems like that news story has gone through the cycle and isn't enough for the writers.

I seriously don't understand what does he have to do for the media to praise him and appreciate his work ethic and how he is dominating the league...its ****ing beyond rediculess at this point, if he doesn't get this year then am fully convinced he'll never get it....still, **** it I would rather finals mvp then this BS
