    Both were amazing.

This guy left off Altuve being the AL batting champion too.

    Hakeem's 1994 season:

    NBA MVP
    NBA Champion
    NBA Finals MVP
    Defensive Player of the Year
    NBA All-Defensive First Team
    All-Star
    All-NBA First Team

I don't really follow baseball all that much, but I'll still say Hakeem. :)

Both great. Glad I was able to witness both. Now we are witnessing the next unbelievable individual performance in HardOn. Next is champagne and MVP..

SEASON? For the purpose of this thread that includes playoffs then, right? If so, easily Hakeem who won the Finals MVP. Altuve was unable to win the World Series MVP, and although his play was solid during that series, it was not as impactful as Hakeem's IMO.

Well Hakeems season was one of the greatest runs in NBA history.

Altuve was great obviously but not sure if you can say it's a top 5 mlb run ever

Can't compare them. Different sports, different dynamics. Hakeem's play was more impressive. Altuve winning MVP though is like Mugsy Bogues winning MVP. So there's that type of impressiveness going on.

Astros better extend altuve and flat out pay the hell out of him this winter. Screw playing hardball with a local hero who just won mvp and the championships.

Dont want him to even think about leaving

Apples and oranges. Basketball players impact their team in a way bigger scale than baseball, can't compare the two. I know it's not exactly correct comparing WAR with win shares, since one is context dependent, nevertheless, Altuve's 8 WAR is like 5% of the season which would be like 4 win shares in basketball. 4 win shares is decent, but just role player level. Last year, Nene had a 4 win share season. Not knocking on Altuve in any way, he's freaking amazing, but that's just the nature of the sport.

I think Dream is immortal but it's amazing for Altuve to rack up the comparison on a team sport that lessens the impact of individual players compared to basketball.

They were both rock solid and fearless when they need to be
