Dallas/houston rivalry aside, I respect mark cuban for being for real about this one lol. Said he wont consider westbrook a superstar until as the main guy he 1) leads a team to 50 wins and 2) wins a 1st round playoff series
By hero ball you play by yourself because you were the only player who could make a basket? T-mac has less shooting talent on his teams than Westbrook last year.
TMac was once the best player in the NBA for a year, in 2002-03 he lead the NBA in WS/48 and would have led in WS outright if he didn't miss 11 games, Melo has never been a top 5 player
Hopefully they get into the playoffs at 7th. The hate for gsw will make them overcome but then lose to any other team after.
if Rockets ends up on top, why will we need OKC to beat GSW for us? if GSW ends up on top, sure we'll welcome OKC and/or someone upsetting GSW first before we meet them or at least wear them down.
Chauncey Billups called him out on tv over it. I'll just use that as my defense because a great basketball mind noticed it too and thought that type of play was impactful enough to call him out over it to his face. Trusting your teammates to make plays is part of being an unselfish player. 2004: Jim Jackson, Bob Sura, David Wesley were all better shooters than McGrady, especially from deep. 2005: Jon Barry, Wesley, Luther Head... better shooters 2006: Shane Battier, Luther Head, Steve Novak... ditto 2007: Shane, Scola, Bobby Jackson, Head, Landry, Mike James, Novak... still same issue 2008: team was stacked with the same type of crew... we won a playoff series... TMac didn't play a single minute that playoffs And never forget TMac had one of the greatest shooters in the history of the NBA playing with him throughout his time as a Rocket.... Yao friggin Ming. Yao was money from his spots... still TMac and his .420 FG% shootin' ass pulled the trigger and almost twice the rate of Ming. Tracy's effective shooting percentage in Houston was .460... he was a chucker. A talented chucker, but a chucker nonetheless.
I always felt the reason gsw wins is because the first 2-3 rounds they never get challenged enough to make them tired
Regular season matters. Those 1 seeds are precious. It GREATLY increases your odds of reaching the WCF. 8th seeded teams and 4/5 seeded teams usually aint jack compared to a 1 seed. Those 2/3 matchups are intense though. 2 and 3 are usually great matchups.
And the #6 seed goes thru #3, #1, and #2 to get to the Finals so that's why it's only been done once....
Wish I wouldve seen it. Was too young. Pretty amazing that they beat the 4 teams with the 4 best records in the nba all on the road. That team is immortalized
someone explain to me why westbrook is not even in the conversation for MVP..did the media forget about him so quickly?
Don't forget the Knicks are 11-10 without Melo, and they would make the playoffs if the season ended now. Meanwhile OKC is two games out of the playoffs picture featuring three stars.
wow. you hear the stat about him not contesting shots but then you see the video. wow. just sags off guys and goes straight to the rim for whole possessions. the one around 1:18 was pretty funny.
the fact that carmelo thinks it's crazy that he should be asked to come off the bench tells you everything you need to know about carmelo's career. manu ginobili, a better player, came off the bench willingly (even if he didn't like it) because it gave his team a better chance to win***. dwade saw the writing on the wall 3 games into the season and volunteered to come off the bench in cleveland. carmelo just thinks it's an insult to infer an inefficient ball chucker should play on the second unit where he'll get more chances to chuck the ball. manu had championships. dwade had championships. melo has been posting 30 win seasons for the last decade. *** i love that pop in zach lowe's article about the spurs respected manu enough that if manu had said he didn't want to come off the bench then pop was going to go with manu's decision.
same with harden. he willingly came off the bench and wanted to be their sixth man for as long as he was there. at one point scott brooks asked him if he wanted to be in the starting lineup because he's so good and he said no he prefers coming off the bench for that team because it helped them win
