i'm a big superhero guy and romcom. i thought the big sick was gonna be a fun romcom type with the typical jason bateman formula. ended up with quite the opposite.
I'm with you. The Big Sick felt overrated to me. Maybe a 6/10, nice feelgood story but was expecting more comedy. Dark Tower was bland and boring.
Arrival 9.5/10 Amazon Prime has it available now and I just got through seeing it again. I forgot how moving parts of the film were, particularly the end.
Coco 8/10 not one of my absolute Pixar favorites but it’s good. Had my entire row wiping their eyes at the end.
don't wanna de-rail too much...just discovered this www.letterboxd.com site. anyone use that? need people to follow, essentially social network for movie lovers...post what you've watched...reviews etc.
Logan Lucky - 4/5 I thought it was really funny and clever. Adam Driver and Daniel Craig were especially great. Critics referred to it as a redneck Ocean's 11, which I think is pretty accurate. Good stuff.
just saw 30 mins of lost in space. wtf did i just watch lelelelelz. is 30 mins the most anyone has ever watched this masterpiece? can't imagine anyone actually finishing the movie.
I watched Atomic Blonde 7.5/10 Style for miles, fantastic 80's soundtrack, entertaining but not too deep.
Killer Joe 6/10 Terrible acting by a not so bad cast sans Matt McConaughey. Couldve been really good if directed well. Still worth a watch for how crazy it is but nothing to go out of your way for.
Finally got around to watching Wind River last night. Great movie. And yeah, Taylor Sheridan can do no wrong in my book right now. He wrote the sequel to Sicario, Soldado, which is set to be released next summer.
Good to hear. I agree, he's easily one of the most exciting writer/director names out there right now.
Monsters Gareth Edwards' first feature-length film. If he wasn't already on my radar for Godzilla and Rogue One, he'd be there now. For a low-budget sci-fi monster indie flick, it's surprisingly good. The main characters are a bit shallow and just borderline likeable, the dialogue between them awkward in some places, but Edwards does a great job of placing you right into this world. Some truly thrilling moments mixed with some deeper reflections on politics, immigration and relationships. It's not just a monster movie. 6.5/10
