What would Watson do with a real coach? Watson was basically running his college offense. Billy 'No O'brien is back to running his trash offense with Savage.

The fact that we are 12 games into the season and Watson is still being mentioned in the top 5 in TDs on the season is special.

Would he really be better under a different coach? Watson really can't play much better statistically and without an offensive line it's all ad hoc anyways.

I will give BOB credit for changing up the offense to better suit Watson and his skill lol set.

College offense is not accurate. Using College concept with BoB's system is the key. The NFL has been using more college formations and plays because younger players are familiar with them. When tweaked for the pro game, they can work. O'Brien was using the college as a smoke screen to help Watson succeed in his system earlier. It also brought out the creativity in BoB. He was doing things that very FEW had seen in the NFL. Chip Kelly system worked...then didn't because he was trying to run his college system (including the uptempo) with real tweaks for 46 players, instead of 90 (active game day players). Fatigue was a huge issue. O'Brien is not trying to run a college offense, he was using the concepts to design plays that integrated into his pro system. College concepts are designed to help with bad Olines and take advantage of Watson's skill sets.

Watson would have broken the record by now and on his way to putting it out of reach.

It's a damn shame that Watson won't be able to break any rookie records. He was a lock to demolish the QB TD record by Peyton Manning and Cam Newton. I wanted him to get all the love, ROY, Pro-Bowl, potentially ALL-Pro selection. Outside chance at MVP if the Texans won the division. All of this was possible.

Watson had an outside shot at the 55 TD in a season record if he actively gunned for it.

If you can't stay healthy it doesn't matter. There are 11 quarterbacks who started over a hundred consecutive games, two of those over 200 and one over 300. We can't even start a QB for one season without injury. Meanwhile, Case Keenum is enjoying their 10 - 2 record.

Yes, this indeed. It wasn’t college offense. But it was college concepts and in some cases exact plays.

Some of it has to do with o line play as well. You just don’t get tons of large dominant o linemen anymore. Across the NFL. Offense has to change. QBs don’t get the same time in pocket.

And yes Billy should get credit for adjusting his system to QB.

And it’s basically impossible to complain about the offense and Billy during Watson’s tenure. They were scoring more points than the run and gun Rams. Watson had 21 total tds. The only thing you could possibly complain about would be “will it still work as teams get more tape, year after year...?”
