Clowney got held blatantly there. Should have been some yellow. Had he not held him, goff would have been obliterated for a safety.
Jonathan Kinsley @Brickwallblitz 36m36 minutes ago Replying to @Brickwallblitz Ok, here's the problem with Bill O'Brien. When he calls plays for Watson, you see loads of play action, misdirection and read option. With Savage, there's no play action and he's asking him to sit in the pocket and throw into tight vertical windows. (Part 1/2) Jonathan Kinsley @Brickwallblitz 34m34 minutes ago Replying to @Brickwallblitz My question is if BOB dos think higher of Watson than Savage, why is he giving Savage extremely difficult play calls where he's expected to make tough, precise throws? It makes no sense. (Part 2/2) Jonathan Kinsley @Brickwallblitz 31m31 minutes ago Replying to @Brickwallblitz With a less talented QB, you're supposed to give him easier reads and throws so the offense can function better. BOB does the opposite with less talented guys, instead giving them impossible situations to work with. Jonathan Kinsley @Brickwallblitz 31m31 minutes ago Replying to @Brickwallblitz As abysmal as Brock was last year, BOB gave him no help whatsoever. Did nothing to help him on 3rd downs and asked him to make throws he couldn't make (which is every throw but still). Jonathan Kinsley @Brickwallblitz 20m20 minutes ago Replying to @Brickwallblitz This is on Savage's strip sack fumble. Notice that there is no RB in the backfield, so there's no play action. You make it so much easier for defenses to stop a play from being successful with play calls this predictable. 1 reply0 retweets0 likes
Wow - That strip fumble does look pathetic. By time he plants the defense is in his grill and only one person was potentially open that one person was on the side the defense was coming from Rocket River
Try finding someone who actually knows something about pro football next time, like someone with actual coaching or playing experience instead of random internet kid. This is 101 stuff.
Poor Savage. Having to play behind the greatest. He had no chance. I feel for the guy. Trying to please a spoiled group of fans.
I realize BoB is throwing Savage under the bus so that Tom takes all the heat for our suckage, but at some point leaving that dumpster juice in the game becomes HORRIBLE COACHING. We are way past that point.
Finally scrapped his crappy system for Savage. Football outsiders: Rivers McCown: I will give Bill O'Brien credit: This offense has been revamped this week. Savage has not been asked to drop back and hold the ball very long. The run action wrinkles from the Watson days are back, to some positive effect even with Savage being a statue. The only reason the Cardinals are in this is that Savage is still Savage and popped out his league-high sixth fumble recovered by the defense. And was also picked.
Rivers McCown is an idiot. That is all. Credit the fumble with the right tackle completely missing his block. Credit the interception on the receiver missing an easy catch and tipping the ball up.
Yesterday was a classic O'Brien win. This team can make the playoffs with Savage. It did with Osweiller
The defense is way too banged up and does not have Boyue. Not this year. Still only a game out of the playoffs which is ridiculous.
Ravens 5-5 Titans 6-4 49ers 1-9 Jaguars 7-3 Steelers 8-2 Colts 3-7 9-7 is still possible. Steelers will probably have the 2nd seed clinched and might not have much to play for. Jags barely beat the Browns yesterday. They can play uninspired sometimes. Titans have o-line issues. Ravens have Flacco. 9-7 is doable. And it is what I've been predicting all season long.
Win the next two and we'll talk. Both against teams that are standing in our way, and if we win both we hold the tiebreaker over each team. Could very well be these two games that decide OB's fate. But we'll probably take 1/2, finish 8-8 and he gets extended.
Not with this OL. Not with these injuries. Not with our secondary issues. Not with this gimped down offense that attempts to minimized Savage's/OL's weaknesses -- too small of a playbook.
