Don't be surprised if we trade Clint for Deandre Jordan this season

Clint is arguably a better player right now. Better post moves and free throw shooting. Not happening. (Besides money doesn't add up)

Clint actually makes his free throws. He ain't being traded for DeAndre.

Love Clint, hope he stays long term, but I do fear he is most likely significant asset to get traded. Reasons:

    1) Fears about contract demands next season
    2) Replacement Value- with Black and Nene behind Clint, it's easier to trade Clint for a non-Center if necessary, especially because concerns about Nene's durability are lessened toward end of season.
    3) Most attractive non-allstar asset on team (although Eric Gordon is making a case).

Thus, I can see a scenario where Rockets say to themselves, we are close, can make a run this season, Nene is healthy and take over starting spot (or maybe Black), we need to plug a hole elsewhere and a team is willing to trade player X for Capela and salary filler (Ryno...Ariza maybe) and we think he can put us over the top...

I dont think that player is Deandre though (and no, not melo).

    1) We would have to send Ryno to get salaries to match. I'm not opposed to trading Ryno, but just giving him away for nothing is stupid.
    2) Clint is arguably better than DJ now.

Why would the Rockets pay max money for a position that is being adequately serviced under a rookie deal.

I'd be very surprised because Morey would not do such a stupid thing. One player is doing the exact same thing the other does but he is younger and a lot cheaper.

lmao, that'll never happen since CP3 and DJ hate playing with each other after all those Clipper years.

CP3 made DeAndre Jordan's career. He's terrible now in Clippers after CP3 left. We'd have a better chance to trade for Lebron than DJ.

Clint has really surprised me this season so far. He has been playing great basketball and his offseason hard work is clearly showing. Think DeAndre is still an elite big, but the Rockets need help at the 4 NOT the 5.

I'm going to just say it.....CLINT CAPELA IS A BETTER PLAYER THAN DJ RIGHT NOW....

Clint is younger and can make free throws as well. It makes absolutely no sense to trade Capela for DJ.

Thank god Harden's extension forbids us to trade him this season, otherwise we might had people asking for....... Oh wait.......

Capella has been awesome this season and does exactly what the Rockets ask him to do. Thus far there isn't an ounce of diva in him and is only 23 years old. The dude is focused, works hard, and you can tell he's highly motivated to get better. DeAndre might be the better player at this point, but DJ is also a terrible free throw shooter which can be a huge liability. Cap has made major strides in all facets of his game including FT which is quite remarkable for a dude that was shooting in the 30% range a few years ago. The kid looks confident and as long as he stays healthy, He can have some borderline all star level years in the future. In conclusion, I like our chances of keeping the young CAP.

If you are going to make a sweet nickname for Capela like CAP then you have to spell his name first correctly. It's Capelllla.

Capella pretty much turned out better than any of us have hoped.

every season he's improving on something, whether it's putting on weight, better defense, better rebounding, better FT%, better finishing around the rim. and he's only 23.

How would even such a deal work? My guess is, to get this off the ground you would have to do a Ryno and Clint for Deandre to make the money work. The Rockets only do this if Clint is walking and won't resign with us. Makes no sense, because if the Rockets were willing to trade Clint, why wouldn't we have done it for Melo? Wild ass speculation is fun, but there's already a thread for that.

Capela is playing better than DJ this season AND has higher upside. Case closed.
