If the Bucks make the playoffs Giannis will win it. Not even going to pay attention this year.

Pretty crazy when you think about it.

If he finishes 2nd this year, he could have been a 3x MVP. You know what that would have done for his legacy?

These are the players that have won 3 or more MVP awards.

    Moses
    Magic
    Dr J
    Bird
    Lebron
    Wilt
    Russel
    Jordan
    Kareem

Harden goes from being a HOF player (which he is already) to top 10 discussions all time...and any team success he has (AKA Rings) would then put him in even better discussions...

But nah, Kyrie will win it.

The no help argument again. Once CP3 comes back then that will now favor Kyrie...plus he has the Westbrook favoritism of him getting revenge against a former superstar teammate.

All because Morey robbed and raped Sam Presti when the Rockets got Harden.

What’s the big deal? They got Kevin Martin, Jeremy Lamb and Steven Adams out of the deal.

So Houston and Harden have to pay the price forever, and ever. Geez!!

everything is lining up for Harden to win the award, this really should be his year

    Giannis is the biggest threat

I see some people saying that Kyrie could win, but there is no way in hell that he should win the award. He would be the worst MVP in NBA history. The Celtics are winning games because they have the best defense in the NBA by far right now. Their offense, where most of Kyrie’s impact comes from, is only ranked 14th. Plus, there is nothing special about his statline of 22, 3, and 6 with a TS% of 54% and a PER of 22.4. I don’t think he could do better than 27 and 7 on the season which is nothing incredibly amazing. Kyrie over Harden for MVP would be a much bigger travesty than Russ over Harden.

It's a fair argument except for the fact that Westbrook's team choked away a 3-1 lead in the WCF, yet he won the MVP the following season. I think Harden still has a lot to atone for in the postseason, but you can't deny the dude's numbers are sick thus far this year. And he's led his team to a 9-3 record despite having Chris Paul for only part of a single game. The voters for MVP like to reward a star for stepping up in a fellow star teammate's absence(see Steve Nash in 2006).

Exactly. Westbrook earned the award because Durant left him in the offseason.

Media narrative driven drama. Same as Houston stole Harden from OKC....thus Harden can never win the MVP.
Media can’t control who wins the NBA championship; but they can control who wins the MVP

The beard. Harden's Muslim beard is not cool, in Trump era.

Dude, 11 games into a season in which fans CAN ALREADY TELL who the NBA media are already positioning in the MVP race. 11 games in and one can see the love for Giannis and Kyrie (now he's on the Celtics) will be key storylines for the MVP race.
Just trying to figure out what possible excuses will be used at the end of the year if the level of play holds up.

I think Bucks need to finish within 5 wins of Rockets for Giannis to even finish second in voting.

If Houston gets 60+ wins and Harden continues similar production, no way he loses MVP.

    Lol

That actually might be true by years end.

And if that's the case we'll be playing a game 7 against the warriors for the championship cause any east team will get banged out.
