    Signed him to a new deal while he was still in the concussion protocol. Think about that.

    They have nothing to do with each other. As has been mentioned hundreds of times, the Texans historically extend a player they want to keep as they go into the LAST year on their contract.

    Reminds me a bit of when the Texans extended Schaub coming off the lisfranc injury without really seeing if he'd fully recovered, which he never really did.
