Canaan was pretty good for us as a starter for a short stretch of games, until he got injured. When he came back, for one reason or another, he was left completely out of the rotation. Does anybody remember why?
Not so sure about that. Jackson can do nothing, but defend. Canaan can do nothing, and cannot defend.
Awesome, I always loved Canaan and he did well in the minutes he got that time as a starter. McHale just didn't like to play him!
My guess is Morey's thinking is Canaan can at least be a shooter out there to help keep the 2nd unit afloat while Harden/Gordon rests. He isn't a savior, but it might add enough of an element to the team to help in those situations.
he can shoot the three although he really struggled last year...I’d say he’s a little bit better than Jackson but still not actually good
Yeah, well they will make rational moves with the LT Tax in mind. They have some wiggle room. Morey wants to stay flexible but at the same time the "role" of this PG is tough to fill because of the playing time issue.
I wonder who the most likely buyout candidates are this year...that might be when we get a capable rotation player on the cheap that can help us at the guard spots
That doesn't really happen until after the trade deadline when teams courses are a bit more firmed up.
lulz, Woj continues to have a bad year. Just yesterday in the Briante Weber article, he said this For now, the Rockets are planning to hold on to the roster flexibility and keep a spot open, league sources said. -- Woj http://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/21124590/briante-weber-agrees-two-way-contract-houston-rockets
Eh, things change. That might have been what they thought. And then we saw what happened last night. And Ariza got hurt. And Nene got hurt. Things change. Just like @Codman gets info, it might not turn out but situations change. Doesn't make the info bad at the time it was given.
I know, I’m just saying that that may be the only way we get a capable player on the cheap that is better than guys like Canaan
He's a familiar face, that's it. Missed on Jameer ... because there was no role or minutes or something. Give me Jordan Crawford(who they waived for Nelson), maybe Leandro Barbosa, (really digging deep here) Sergio Rodriguez, Beno Udrih, Deron Williams, Monta Ellis... Isaiah Canaan it is. OK.
