Very interesting. Gordon basically says he played to not get injured last year, and now he wants to return to his more complete ways of scoring. He's returning to "my real game."

Mods pls lock if you think we should be more superstitious ... no jinx threads.

Eric Gordon opting for more drives
By Jonathan Feigen, Houston Chronicle | October 22, 2017

Eric Gordon got off to a stunning start to the season with a drive and hard two-handed slam against the Warriors in the opener, a move and finish he reprised later in the game. Gordon said, however, he was not auditioning for a return to the dunk contest in an effort to add that to last season’s 3-point contest win.

He did plan, however, to take the ball to the rim more often than last season.

“Teams want to run me off the line,” Gordon said. “I’ll just attack the basket like that. I just have to make the right play. That’s what I’m going to do.

“I showed a couple flashes last year. I feel a lot better this year. I think this is a good year for me to excel even more.”

Through three games, Gordon is averaging 10 of his 22.3 points per game from in the paint. Last season, he averaged four points per game inside.

“I do feel stronger than last year,” Gordon said. “Last year, it was all about just playing as many games as possible. Now, I’m just going to put it all together and playing my real game. I’ve always been able to shoot 3s. Early on in my career, I used to take it to the hole a ton. This is a good year to put it all together.

“I’m going to be aggressive throughout the whole game. When I’m out there, I’m always going to be aggressive, that’s for sure.”

Rockets coach Mike D’Antoni noticed more “bounce” in Gordon’s game than last season, but said that Gordon did not seem to lack any explosiveness early in the season. Still, even then, Gordon averaged just 4.4 points in the paint through the first 10 games.

“He has a lot of bounce, I know that. He was unbelievable the first half of the season. He was real good the second half, but the first half he was unreal. Now, he’s unreal again. Maybe we can try to keep all year this time.”

Please stay healthy EGo. We can't lose you and CP3 at the same time.

Attacking the basket means falling on the floor more.. hopefully he stays healthy all season.

His drives are fast and hard. He puts a ton of pressure on defenses, cant wait for all three of our great guards to play on the court at the same time consistently...good luck with double teams on anyone our big 3...

I noticed his more aggressive approach. And I assumed it was because he made it through last season with minimal injuries. I really hope he can handle the more physical play over the course of the entire year.

Eric has had some really unfortunate injuries in his time in the league.

This shouldn't be a surprise to anyone considering he came up on the same AAU team as Derrick Rose

Ryan Anderson is a highly paid specialist, hopefully MDA starts playing him that way. Should not get more than 20 mins a game, EGo-Prince-PJ should get the rest of his minutes. Ryno is just too much of liability on D when his shot is not falling.

Eric Gordon has 8 more free throw attempts than Harden with 16 less minutes played. Insane.

He was an X factor off the bench last year. He is more confident and if he keeps this up, carmelo who? Gordon fits our style of play better than Carmelo. Andersons spacing is a huge key for our guards.

Gordan's game is very violent on offense. He's been great so far, but he might want to dial it back; not sure his body can take it.

EGO has been injured so much you forget how he used to play. I'm still surprised by the dunks and drives.

I agree that people definitely forgot how strong and aggressive of a finisher Ego is when healthy.

I'd rather him stay healthy and just chuck threes.
