Troy Williams shot look so ugly. His form looks different everytime and he shoots on his way down. He even kicks his leg out on wide open attempts.

Is he really a credible 3pt shooter or just lucky? I'm so confused.

    Standout players from this game

Clint Capela. Just looks so much more comfortable and in control. Even attempted a few move off the dribble. He's in for a big year.

Eric Gordon. Shot didn't go in and kept shooting. Thats coaching and its fine because we know he can hit those. Impressive moves off the dribble. Looked quick and decisive. Shots will fall.

Luc Mbah a Moute. Shots looked good. Defense seems strong as advertised. Impressive speed going towards basket with the ball. We got a 12million a year player playing for the min.

Ariza. Shot the ball extremely well. Hustled even dived for a loose ball in preseason wtf.

Clint looked lost driving against Grizzlies 3rd stringer. Ffs, what game you watching?

Eric, I agree. Fire at will.

Trevor and Luc, they're dogs every team needs. Can't ever call them out, if anything, praise them. Work hard, play hard 4 lyfe.

So when we go cold from deep, do we have other strategies to get us going?

Like mid-range, driving? Something to see the ball go in then maybe go back to 3s?

How we won yesterday will beat 20-25 teams in the League, but not the top ones.

The averages will work out is not a playoff philosophy. I'd love to see a harden and Paul p&r, where harden is posting up after the curl. Then Paul working mid range some.

We badly need variety, last night's game was painful to watch.

Hubie is done. Used to love him...but he's cooked.

Thanks! I don't miss regular season games, but LP in Austin isn't recording preseason games for access later if you were busy and had to miss it live. They do during the season, of course. I was at a pub playing trivia with my team (we kicked ass!), so no joy. Appreciate any comments about the game that aren't long arguments about MDA's offense. ;)

Just going to leave this right here:
Kevin Martin 38.4% career 3p% (42.6% highest avg in a yr)
Shawn Marion 33.1% career 3p%. (39.3% highest avg in a yr)

"How does he do it with that cockeyed shot" - in game commentary about Marion's three point shot made
"Should be a technical foul for every shot he takes" - fan reaction to Marion's form

Per Feigen, so far this pre-season Ariza - Trevor Ariza has averaged 16.7 points in his 28.3 minutes per game, making 51.5 percent of his shots and 50 percent of his 3s. With more depth at SF with Tucker/Moute perhaps Ariza can get more rest and be sharper and more efficient with 3's. That could be big. Ariza and Gordon could have big years getting passes from Harden & CP.

This was a sloppy game, but after it was over, I felt it was a good game for the team to have had. Find ways to win when the 3pt shot isn't falling. That is going to happen this year.

CP made a similar comment to Feigen in his game article

I don't hate Hubie. He seems to have genuine love for some of our players. I was following the baseball game last night so I didn't get to watch.

What bothers me (a little) about Hubie is for some reason you can tell he usually is rooting against the rockets and I'm not sure why. He gives credit where it's due but he would always say stuff like "this is very unfortunate" or "oh no, this i really bad" when harden would cook someone out of their britches. And then when something bad would happen to the rockets he would say something like "now this is what they need to keep doing" (about the opponent.) I've hear he roots for the underdog but I'm not sure, they could explain it since we were a top 3-4 team last year

One might think we lost the game last night based on posts in this thread. No chemistry...like non.

In the game I watched last night we won. Like...won.

I saw a team do everything it took to win despite shots not falling.

You're watching his lower body which it actually less important for the shot.

You want the elbow 90 degrees, good wrist flexion, shoulders at a slight tilt so that the wrist can open up all the way.

He has all of those things and he gets good elbow extension on the release with a high release point.

He just jumps a lot higher on his shot than other players so it looks different.

Yeah, I think most of it he is just getting old. Happens to the best of us. He is very knowledgeable, but way past his prime. I can understand his rooting for the Grizz, since he has coaching ties. Will have to pay attention next time he does a Rockets game. All that said, he was really awful last night. Made me cringe to hear some of it.

Our best three players combined for 10 makes on 31 shots and we won. This is a different team that finds ways to win in other ways. If we played like that last year, no way we win and certainly not by 12 points. The horrible shooting and winning anyway has me excite.

I don't know if you have access to espn, but they have the game archived.

I love seeing us using Ryno in the post. He has some talent on that post.
