Is that what happens when all the Thetans get loose from the volcano?

Giant explosion averted by pouring a lot of water on it and generating electricity from the steam produced? Sounds like the most boring movie ever, unless the mitigation fails.

ORRRR giant explosions due to NASA team pouring too much water into it, causing chain reactions that starts the Armageddon.

Drill a hole into the magma chamber. What could go wrong?

On the bright side, the ash from the supervolcano will completely surround the earth's atmosphere and bring in another ice-age......which will do wonders for the summer heat/humidity in Houston!!! ;)

Isn't the new way we deal with scientific issues like this to just try to cut their funding or the department that funds the research?

    Problem solved.

^Mazama is Crater Lake if you didn't know.

I don't usually feel ill at ease in nature, but there is something about standing on the shores of Yellowstone Lake and watching stuff bubble up that gives me the willies. Looking into the waters it's like you're looking at the unknown and the incomprehensible. Only place I've ever felt that.

I doubt it could "erupt" like it had in the past. Continental crust/lithosphere is too thick to cause a massive eruption, from what I recall.

However, massive geyser eruptions have occurred as recently as the early Holocene.

Is NASA working exclusively out of Colorado on this project?

Cause this sound like some smart dumb sh*t that they came up with while they were smacked
