Season has not even started and I am already fedup with Ryan Anderson's defense, or rather lack of any defense.

    Another season of this ****.

The guy cant guard anyone, big, small, thicc, thin, young, old, whatever... Absolutely dog **** on defense.

Towards the end of half, Grizzlies were attacking Ryan Anderson because they knew he would give them a clean look. This is going to be the theme all season long. Teams will be giving him the Kanter treatment.

Can you imagine being the other 4 Rockets on the floor with him, playing 20 seconds of good defense, only to have Anderson **** it up because the guy cant move his feet or keep his hands up to bother anyone.

Cant rebound the miss either if there is one.

The man single handedly breaks up our defense. How can we be a good defensive team with this guy on the floor??

    Its just too damn frustrating.

It's far from our #1 problem I'd say..

It's a problem. Might be able to hide it on most nights in the regular season, but definitely won't be able to hide it in the playoffs.

He's bad at defense and he's not going to get better.

Imagine if we had gotten Melo.

This thread would be called "Carmelo Anthony's Defense"

Melo when motivated and if bothered can give you something on defense.

I don't care how hard Anderson tries. He just can't do it.

We already have Harden who is questionable on defense. With Anderson in there it just becomes a sieve.

    Exactly.

But Harden needs to be on the floor. He runs the offense.

Throw in Anderson beside him and our defense becomes a 3.5 man defense instead of 5 man defense.

it takes someone to get motivated in order to give you something. i guess that became plausible somehow

i whs they'd solve his defense/rebounding problmes by cutting his minutes downt o 25-28 and give the rest to pj/ariza/mbah. dont play him 30-35mpg.

i expect him to be unable to move his feet on D. but what irks me is on many plays he isn't even making an attempt for rebounds he should have a chance to get

    He was fine tonight .

We switch a bit too much .

I know GS is the goal , but we need to stop trying to emulate them in everything .

It's not a good idea to switch so much especially vs athletic rebounding bigs or bigs that pass and score from the post as well as Gasol.

That kind of switching defense is good vs golden state , but I'd like to see or perimeter defenders man up and fight through screens instead of relying on the switch .... It's not like most teams have great great shooters that you deny space at all costs .

It is the #1 defensive problem. Can't do anything about it though. He's not getting any better.
