Not to mention that it's obvious he doesn't really care about playing football. He'd be just another bad contract.

They could just 1. Do nothing 2. Get him back a month from now 3. Cut his ass in the off-season and reap the cap savings 4. Use cap savings on whatever is needed in FA 5. Profit.

Well, he's gonna show up by week 9 because he won't want to lose credit for the season meaning he'd still have 2 years left under contract next season. The question will be what shape he shows up in and if he's a starting caliber player for the rest of the season or if he rides the bench.
I say we ride it out and make him suffer. Honestly this whole thing is just plain ridiculous. The Texans are one of a few first class organizations that actually takes care of its guys and this is what we get in return. We've been nothing but good to Brown and now he's showing his true colors by spitting in our face when we need him most. He's risking his reputation with the city for a quick buck that he probably won't get. He was a lock for the ring of honor but not so sure anymore.
Overall this franchise has a great history of taking care of their guys when the time comes. They also have a good history of not negotiating with terrorist holdouts.
He'll probably come back and get injured since he's out of shape. If I were the Texans I would hold out and see if a team would be desperate enough to offer a 2nd. If not keep him and make him play. I would also hold onto him for his last season because it would be a contract year for him and he will play hard. Also it looks like many of the quality 2018 FA OL were locked up by their teams. Think Nate Soldier is available though.
This guy has it all wrong. The only team with leverage is the Texans. They don't have to do anything. The season isn't going dramatically different with or without him. Only difference is that they might have not given up 10 sacks in game 1. Otherwise, I don't think the inclusion of Brown would have changed anything dramatically enough to give in to his demands. We could sign the guy the Seahawks want and still let Brown rot away.
The leverage is probably the idea that Brown is gone after the year and we have a desperate need for draft picks.
Can't show other agents that we give in to ridiculous holdouts. It would only encourage more holdouts in the future. Gaining like a 5th round pick for it is just not worth it. Now if somebody offered a 2nd or 3rd rounder? Then I'd bite. You know the Texans would give in on their principles if the price is high enough.

I would keep him, play him... if he gets injured that's on him.... if he plays well and drives up his value, trade him in the offseason for a 2nd-3rd rounder. By then who cares if it's one of the LA teams or not, we gain and he gets what he wants AFTER the season concludes.
