I know we're only 5 games in but BoB has to start thinking about going back to Romeo. All 3 will be looking for jobs with the way things are going.

Remember when we gave OBie no credit for one the league's best defenses last year without JJ
and all of the credit for one of the league's worst offenses?

    Just curious.

The defense looked much better organized under Crennel. Under Vrabel they seem out of sync, out of position, and usually outplayed. Watt was largely ineffective coming off back surgeries, so that is a big loss even before his season ending injury. The loss of Mercilous will be even worse.

I wouldn’t see he was ineffective. He actually opened things up for Clowney.

Of course it’ll be huge with both Watt and Merc down but Dylan Cole (6 tackles) and Cunningham (9 tackles) played very well. Yes we won’t have as many qb sacks but we really haven’t been getting any from them this year anyway. I really don’t think the front 7 is the problem. Vrabel is great when it comes to the linebackers. It’s just the secondary he has no clue on coaching.

The major problem of the Texans coaching is the adjustments during the game.

Last night early in the first half, we almost completely shut down the Chiefs running game, but then Reid clearly saw that our secondary was trash and there are always 5-6 yards of space between our corners and the Chiefs receivers. So they have established the passing game early and then made adjustments at the half and eventually Hunt was over 100 yards in rushing and broke it open in second half.

The Texans failed to adjust any of the above on defense the whole forking game.

I just thought of this lol...

Maybe the coaching staff knows our dbs are too slow so they force them to play far back.

I think it's their philosophy, bend but don't break. The problem is that KC is masterful at taking the short gains and busting them with their supreme athletic talent. Also our weaknesses are opposite their strengths. Makes them look better than they are and use worse than we are. Honestly KC is just a bad matchup for us. The worst and has been for several years now.

If Dylan Cole starts, his name will be mentioned in the ROY runnings.
    He won't win though!

Issue we're having on defense is the busted coverages.

It's just not acceptable to be giving up third and long repeatedly.

If it's that big an issue, blitz on that down to cover for the CB's.

Yes Vrabel knows what he's doing despite losing 2 of 11 starters and 2 of 3 pass rushers to injury.

Romeo didn't have JJ Watt pretty much all of last season and they were one of if not the best defense in the league.

We are also missing Kevin Johnson, who has been a pretty good CB since being drafted.

Secondary injuries can really hurt your team, usually because the guys behind are complete trash and get shredded by decent WRs on a consistent basis

He did have a more experienced secondary and almost 20 years of DC experience. Give Vrabel a chance to get some experience and build & improve is defensive roster.

I’d say he’s been decent. He had a really good stretch before getting injured last season though.

He’s going to have to play like a pro bowler when he gets back for us to have a chance to win a playoff game. Of course that’ll probably move Kareem to safety...hopefully .

I really don't understand why we arent getting active in FA. there are multiple CBs, DEs and OTs to take a couple fliers on. we have a bunch of money just for this year and we really need some help now with injuries and the suckage that has been our defense so far.
