Dude think you're taking this way too personally. Do you really think he is holding out for a new contract solely to put the team in a bad position? I for one hate holdouts because you negotiated and agreed to the deal but this is the nature of the business. It's happens to every franchise and the Texans are not necessarily better for having stand their ground over the years.

But the dilemma just isn't whether you want to give into his demands (which we don't know what they are at this point), it is whether you would rather have Kendall Lamm protecting the blind side of your rookie QB, which you just spent two 1st rounders on, or potentially having a bad contract on the team. I for one would rather take the latter and protecting our investment as much as possible. Not to mention that it is "potentially" a bad contract. Duane could still have a few good years left. That we don't know for sure, but we absolutely know is Duane is exponentially better than Lamm at this point.

The other problem we have is what we do after the season. Can't bolster the line through the draft which leaves us at free agency which has proven to be just as risky and expensive, if not more. But for kicks, here's the list of LT's set to hit FA next summer. Take your pick.

Nate Solder LT 29 NE TBD $10,031,000
Donald Penn LT 34 OAK TBD $5,950,000
Greg Robinson LT 24 DET TBD $5,321,025
Chris Clark LT 31 HOU TBD $3,000,000
Donald Stephenson LT 28 DEN TBD $2,500,000
Chris Hairston LT 28 LAC TBD $1,450,000
Sam Young LT 30 MIA TBD $1,150,000
Bradley Sowell LT 28 CHI TBD $775,000
Nick Becton LT 27 DET TBD $690,000

I think the time has come for Rick Smith to be promoted and replaced with someone who is more capable of building a complete roster. To break camp with this offensive line is criminal.

Make him CEO or some shti. He is too tight with the owner to be fired ever.

Right or wrong, OBie will get fired if the O line situation does not improve dramatically asap. And it is not like OBie cut all-pro O lineman, when camp broke. I would not be surprised if the Texans had the league's worst LT and RT for the game last week.

    1. He's a really good Godfather to Cal's kid.
    2. He doesn't cuss or get arrested or do other openly ungentlemanly things.
    3. He's very good at manipulating the press, and he owns The General and the rest of the local media.
    4. He's an excellent Godfather.
    5. Nobody can talk more and say less about football.
    6. He really wanted to draft Khalil Mack... until Clowney started playing well then he drafted Clowney... until Clowney's injured again and he'll tell you Mack was his guy all along. And so on with his other misses.
    7. He Godfather's the heck out of Cal's kids.
    8. He good at the administrative and media side of being a GM.
    9. He drafted JJ Watt and DeAndre Hopkins. (Well, Wade Phillips actually pushed the button on Watt, but...)
    10. He has photographs of Bob McNair.

Which one of them was a Heisman runner-up two seasons in a row? Which one of them has made college football history?

Way too early. One or two of those guys will drop to the 3rd round. Most likely Allen.

    Cam Newton says hello.

Book it. It happens every year. This time last year everyone expected Watson to be the first pick. Josh Allen got embarrassed in week 1, Rosen played bad and lost and Darnold and Rosen got outplayed by no named freshmen QBs. Lamar finally looked human and has some more tough games coming up. By the combine after all their games have been analyzed and broken down, they will get 2nd and 3rd round grades. Book it!

Yep, Watson was supposed to be a top 5 pick as well. ALL young QBs get figured out in year 2 and generally struggle. Now, the ones that don't struggle are special, but most do.

    Darnold will be good.

Jaguars should tank this year for him.

    Call me when we get a QB who's 6'5" and 260 lbs who runs a 4.5 40.

And notice CAR is changing it's offense because the read option isn't working anymore in NFL and Newton has been getting too many injuries. They're worried about his longevity.

Watson played at 205 lbs his senior season. And he's already injured from running around. GLWT.
