lance should be a closer. his ego probably won't allow it at this point. but he will never stay healthy as a starter over the course of a season.
ugh on Lance. I'm not worried about arm fatigue after missing a lot of the season if it's only 1 start. But I am worried about him not having enough time to find himself if he's missing starts down the stretch. Hopefully it's just the 1.
WTF, I'd seriously rather have Liriano start over Fiers at this point. At least there's a .0000001% chance we stay in the game with the fat lefty gas can.
These issues might make it easier for Hinch to convince Lance to work out of the pen in the postseason. Peacock might have the Game 3 start on lock.
On the brighter side, what an absolute gem of a game by Verlander! Really satisfying to see him get the W tonight.
It's becoming more and more clear that a possible Game 4 in the postseason should be a bullpen game. Whoever starts shouldn't go more than 3 innings, and with an off day the next day they can extend their best relievers.
Damn man, Lance just can't stay healthy. If he can't go then Games 3 and 4 both end up being heavily dependent on the pen.
Peacock has been about as consistent as any Astros pitcher this year... at this point, I'd be dissapointed if he can't pitch into the 6th inning effectively in any game. McHugh/LMJ should just tandem it.... with Morton ready to go if either gets roughed up or hurt again.
We should never depend on Lance McCullers again. If he can pitch, great, but he will keep missing starts. He's a part timer. That's who he is.
Verlander Keuchel (who should be much better than any other team's game 2 starter). Peacock McHugh/LMJ/Morton.... please somehow, someway, if nothing else.... not Fiers (who is now officially the Jason of the 2017 Astros starting pitchers).
