.....all summer long. I fully expect he'll be unleashing some bombs this upcoming season. Just a little empirical evidence that we are ultimately going to get a 5 man that can stroke the three efficiently while defending the paint and controlling the defensive glass. Because that is the next phase of the ultimate modern day NBA offense.
.575 Career FT% Literally anyone can shoot in an open gym when it doesn't matter. Deandre, Dwight, Javale, Whiteside... All the big r****ds basically. (Embiid and Towns are going to tear it up though. Gasol and Lopez to a lesser degree)
No. Not just anyone can. Whiteside can actually shoot. He did it at Marshall. Good mechanics. DeAndre and Dwight cannot shot in an open gym, an empty gym, a full gym, or anywhere on planet earth. Javale is another story. He has a slightly low release point but other than that his mechanics are...decent. And he's practicing the shot too much for it not to have meaning. He's putting up several hundred threes a day. That has meaning. He's been told to work on it. Warriors ain't dumb. They're very intelligent. He's being coached to shoot it. .575? That has more to do with the knucklehead factor than actual mechanics. I'll be surprised is he doesn't get up a couple threes a game this season. Javale is tremendous value at the minimum and I expect he'll way outperform this coming season. The reason I posted the thread was to get you ready for our future three point shooting center.
Draymond, Embiid and Marc Gasol are already doing this. I think the point you're making is the defensive centers who suck at offense, except lobs ... that one or two of them will learn to make 3s in an actual game. There are centers through the years who could defend and shoot at distance....they are called HOFers....Sabonis and Sikma come to mind. Pau and Yao would have if asked. Laimbeer? Do you mean for the Rockets? Or just in general, that defense-only centers will follow what Draymond, Embiid and Gasol are doing.
I sincerely doubt these dudes even let Javale McGee shoot threes in pickup games. I would love to see Westbrook's face as Javale pulls up for three in a meaningless pickup game.
Hassan has some really nice shooting splits. Nearly 40 percentage all the way out to the three point line. Accept my apology and kudos bballholic! FT: .611 3-10: .440 10-16: .427 16-Three: .385 Three:. N/A (Has not attempted one three) Impressive. Here are Javale's. Not so impressive. FT: .575 3-10: .363 10-16: .288 16-Three: .302 Three: .100
Pringles did ask Gasol to shoot threes. He didn't like it though. I guess it had to do more with how he was used.
I think everyone knew that was going to be the next step. I have no problem with McGee handling the ball and shooting 3's as often as possible. In fact I encourage it. Also rather that "stroking 3's", he should learn how to shoot from the free throw line.
That would definitely help if they just made Javale the point guard. I think they are wasting a top talent if they don't. @Nook is just plain correct here. Think of all the options they'd have! They could start posting up Curry more too. Can you imagine how good Javale's entry pass would be?
Ohh...ohh...I got it Javale forgets which side of the arc to stand on,,,so he receives a catch and shoot, looks at his feet like many shooters do to make sure he's behind the line, but instead steps in front of the arc and shoots.
