I was 50-50 before the game, but now I'm almost convinced we're (Lithuania) going to lose this. Just a horrid start offensively for us, and not good defense either... Lithuania isn't playing like they're worth being in the quarter-final. Hopefully that will change in the second half, but if not - then kudos to Greece.
Lithuania had a great comeback and almost won it. Sloukas hit some great shots, and Bourousis in the second half managed to rise from his coffin and showed up. Anyway they will lose against Croatia next. Too bad for the amazing Lithuanian fans who all live for bball, having their team lose so early. I hope there are good young playmakers coming up for you.
Serbia can ball with the best tho, let's see how they do tonight (nevermind, I mixed up the Russia-Croatia matchup).
Russia set an example with a 101-78 win over Croatia. Quarter Finals: Germany - Spain Slovenia - Latvia Greece - Russia Italy - Serbia
I feel bad for Italy, they have just one guy at 6'11'' & all other players are 6'9'' or shorter. Boban would destroy them under the hoop..
And he destroyed us in the only game he played against Rockets last season. Pistons won & he scored 27-12. He won't play more than 20 minutes, but he would dominate in the paint (defensively he would be liability tho, I can agree with that).
Its a tough one for Italy. They are mahor underdogs on this one. But I don't think rebound will be their issue. They have a good team dicipline and a great coach. Their problem is lack of talent relatively to Serbia, which werr my favorite to the finals together with Spain. They can pull it off, but it will be tough, and they will need a great day behind the 3 point line.
Germany-Spain in roughly two hours, hope we can somehow pull off an upset, even though I don't see our bigs standing a chance vs the Gasol brothers. Still, tournament has been a major success for us, so everyone would be okay with a loss.
