I think they should retire both numbers.

Did Jordan wear #45 the same amount of years as #23? NO
Were Jordan's accomplishments nearly identical with both #45 or #23? NO

Apparently he wore multiple numbers, including 12 which I don't recall.

Does that mean you retire ALL 3?

Lebron wore 6 and 23 should he get both retired too? NO.

Edit: come to think about it, the Heat are special. They retired the #23 for Jordan just because. So they'll most likely retire his #6... but should they? NO.

He'll be remembered for dawning the #23 for the longevity of his career.

I'm not saying that Kobe should have both retired - and i couldn't care less if both are retired or even which number is retired. However, OP brings up a valid question - just look at the graphic he posted.

MJ has only #23 retired because he played ONLY 22 games in #45, and 1 game with #12. Kobe wore both #8 and #24 for 10 years/each and had nearly identical accomplishments in both numbers.

If/when Lebron gets his jersey retired - he'll have BOTH retired since he wore #6 in MIAMI (if they do retire his #6) and #23 in CLEVELAND.

He did a lot wearing each number, I agree with retiring both. One doesn't make more sense than the other to me.

    They should retire both.
Lol they aren't gonna retire LeBron's number. A lot of Miami fans hate him, even with the two rings, he might not have stayed long enough for them to consider going against fan perception.

They'll absolutely retire his number. It's a newer franchise and Lebron won them two rings and made them THE team. In a decade no Miami fan will seriously care that he returned to Cleveland

    Huh, didn't realize that.

Yeah if Shaq got retired, LeBron definitely will.

He was retired by the heat but I'm also pretty sure the lakers as well

Lebron to much of a diva to not have his jersey retired at both

LeBron brought 2 championships to Miami and 4 Finals appearances in 4 years. He's absolutely getting retired.

Kobe is a very unique career in which he played a decade each in 2 different jersey #'s with the same amount of production. It's actually incredible to really think about.

They should retire both on 1 banner.
