So fire Rick because he didn't franchise tag or out bid Jacksonville for Bouye's services. Never mind we have Joseph and Jackson on thick contracts. We also have Johnson who was pretty darn solid as a rookie. Yeah hurry up and get rid of this dude.
From PFF -- "Ranking all 32 NFL teams' five-year success by draft class" "..... We computed WAR for each player drafted while they were with their drafting team, and summed these numbers for each team from the years 2012 to 2016, excluding seasons where a player had a negative wins above replacement as we felt that players that saw snaps yet were below replacement level should be treated the same as draft picks that never saw the field. We weighed the most recent season’s class as if their productivity is going to be repeated for the subsequent four seasons, weighed the second-most recent class as if the combined productivity from 2015 and 2016 is going to be repeated the subsequent three seasons, and so on. Below are the teams ranked from highest to lowest WAR total, along with some of the top scoring players from each squad." 20. Edge phenom Jadeveon Clowney finally stayed healthy last season and had the breakout performance everyone expected when he was drafted first overall in 2014 by the Texans. He posted 38 total defensive stops in 2016, and registered at least four pressures in seven of Houston’s final nine games of the season. https://profootballfocus.com/news/pro-ranking-all-32-nfl-teams-five-year-success-by-draft-class/
He hasn't shown any indication that he plans to show up for work any time soon and the team is already game planning for week 1. If he doesn't show up REALLY soon, they probably wouldn't play him week 1 even if he showed up before the game started.
We should have cut Joseph to clear cap space for Bouye. Joseph is still solid but well past his prime. Its really not that crazy of a take.
They offered Bouye a nice contract, unfortunately Jacksonville offered more. Joseph was very solid for us last season. They are not getting rid of him just yet.
Yes we do. That was all PR smoke from Smith. Bouye and his agent declined to even negotiate. He wanted away from this organization.
Yeah....and now he's stuck on the Jags. I'm pretty sure it was just money, the Texans weren't willing to offer him as much as the Jags, and so now he's wasting the next several years of his career but making bank while doing it.
I'm not sure, but it wouldn't shock me if that was the case. I do fully understand it though, he was 4th string coming into last season and he wouldn't have even gotten playing time if not for injuries. He was still going to have to earn his spot if he stayed but now that he's on the Jags, he's one of their best defensive players. He gets to be the big fish in the mud puddle.
Now this is a straight up lie. The Texans made competitive offers to try to retain Bouye, raising their annual average more than once during negotiations to try to keep the ascending young corner. At one point, the Texans made a five-year, $60 million offer that included $22 million guaranteed. However, Bouye indicated the Texans' offer was the lowest on the front end of any serious suitor. http://www.houstonchronicle.com/spo...-A-J-Bouye-Quintin-Demps-to-rich-10991259.php
Exactly right. He was a street FA and has no elite physical attributes. Trust your scouting and go find another Bouye for the minimum.
