He better pay some of that to Fuller. Fuller getting injured gave him more leverage.

Today's the day that XSF would have been one of the highest paid guards in the league had he been able to live up to his draft position...instead he will play out his rookie contract and probably find another home next year.

Full details. This is an amazing deal structure for the Texans, $24MM in Year 1 and can pretty much clear his cap number after Year 3 (2019) if they really need to.

    1. Signing bonus of $7.5 million.

    2. 2017 roster bonus of $8.5 million, fully guaranteed.

    3. 2017 base salary of $8 million, fully guaranteed.

    4. 2018 base salary of $12.5 million, fully guaranteed.

    5. 2019 base salary of $12.5 million, guaranteed for injury at signing. It becomes fully guaranteed on the fifth day of the 2018 league year.

    6. 2020 base salary of $12.5 million.

    7. 2021 base salary of $13.5 million.

    8. 2022 base salary of $13.915 million.

    9. Salary de-escalators of $250,000 per year from 2018 through 2022, based on participation in the offseason program.

It also gives us less flexibility to add players in the early years

Not really. This year is the big cap hit, after that it's all very, very manageable.

Fuller also being exposed after week 2 last year helped Hopkins' position as well. Here's to hoping he can start making an impact again

But he was getting paid handsomely as well...he's just choosing to give that money back to the Texans.

Man, you can add a third guarantee to death and taxes: Texans bloggers calling every contract "team friendly"

That explains why we aren't budging on Duane. We're giving it all to Hopkins.

I'm not sure front loading is the way to go when we're trying to win now

Anyone have a list of SB teams who sunk big money into WR and RB?

I don't care if I lose every ounce of credibility I have, it is my mission in life to make people realize how overrated Hopkins is...a good receiver. Not a great receiver. If he starts playing like Andre I'll eat the crow with a smile on my face.

Where does all his favor come from?

Why do you say he's overrated?

None of those teams are super bowl contenders.

He's not talking about currently obviously. It's a list of recent super bowl teams that did exactly that.

I think the favor comes from him being the best receiver on the roster. Other than Andre and Hopkins the Texans haven't had a load of talent at receiver.
