Well, this is a classic example and tough lesson for the front office of how you just can't bank on prospects down the stretch, especially if you have a legit team that can compete for it all. Just frustrating watching this. Boston has a good chance of catching this team.

This is the team that Luhnow built. Just a half-season team. Fool's gold. Magic's gone. Too much momentum lost after the trade deadline without key pick -up. Add how many games Liriano lost for us--3? 4? Momentum, confidence are very fragile, fluid stuff. We're not intimidating opponents anymore. And that irrational belief and confidence in ourselves and in teammates is not there anymore.

Not going to overreact to anything since they're still in VERY good shape... But it does hallmark the true length of a 162 game season. You need stars, depth, acquisitions to fix weakness'.... and a bit of luck... to make it through entirely unscathed. The 2015 Astros did limp their way to the end due to bullpen fatigue..... but a lot of that was forgotten through the WC game and the first 3.7 ALDS games (till the bullpen collapsed in game 4).
