Well, this is a classic example and tough lesson for the front office of how you just can't bank on prospects down the stretch, especially if you have a legit team that can compete for it all. Just frustrating watching this. Boston has a good chance of catching this team.

    That was disappointing.

Just terrible hitting with men in RISP. This is partially why I advocated for a JD Martinez trade to provide more lineup depth. Can't wait for Correa to get back.

Poetic justice that Nationals reinforcements finish off game like that. Yay for AAA guys!

Yep. We are not far from replacing JD Davis with Carlos Correa.

If Correa is ok, that will make a world of difference.

On the bright side, Devo looked great. Gregerson looked pretty good despite the single.

This is looking like the truth. Plus the manager sucks. It's looking pretty rough.

    Team RISP: 3-for-11
    Team LOB: 8

They have 7 of 9 of their normal starters in the lineup. This isn't the same team from the first half, and it isn't because of the two noobs, although they certainly need to go ASAP.

Bad now, but healthy playoffs might cure all.

    I've already accepted <100 wins.

Derek Fisher keeps his Iphone in his back pocket.
Also, I told JD Davis in the bottom of the 8th to not let the moment get to him - it's only millions of future dollars on the line, lol. Then Stassi GIDP'd.

We heard it was cheat sheet for where to be positioned on each of the hitters. You know, like a mini-Kubiak Denny's menu.

yep. That sitting on their ass at the deadline continues to give the gift that keeps on giving.

This team has been average for as long as they were unbeatable. Super glad we did next to nothing at the break.

This is the team that Luhnow built. Just a half-season team. Fool's gold.

Magic's gone. Too much momentum lost after the trade deadline without key pick -up. Add how many games Liriano lost for us--3? 4?

Momentum, confidence are very fragile, fluid stuff. We're not intimidating opponents anymore. And that irrational belief and confidence in ourselves and in teammates is not there anymore.

...this is as awful as a Chron comment. The team is strong considering the entire starting rotation was out at one point. Two MVP candidates were knocked out...and both opening day catchers. No team has All-stars for all players on the 40 man.

Not going to overreact to anything since they're still in VERY good shape...

But it does hallmark the true length of a 162 game season. You need stars, depth, acquisitions to fix weakness'.... and a bit of luck... to make it through entirely unscathed.

The 2015 Astros did limp their way to the end due to bullpen fatigue..... but a lot of that was forgotten through the WC game and the first 3.7 ALDS games (till the bullpen collapsed in game 4).

Two actually. And out of 7 appearances, gave up earned runs in 2. Tiring how folks exaggerate what he done.

While its true we have only been great for half a season, the half we haven't is mostly due to injuries, not team construction.
